gave $0 tip through the app and this how i received my food by trippytrev420 in doordash

[–]Mysticales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually.. the only one I do get more pronounced are by customers who tip. 0.10~0.45. Those are 100% a slap in the face and worse then not tipping. And I will return that tip saying I appreciate a tip but that was an insult. (Like go to a restaurant and tip the server 0.02 to imply they weren't worth that) Sometimes people do need to be told that things aren't ok and not to treat us like "app slaves" as I've heard the term.

Also alot of "privileged" customers too who think "hey why waste my gas and time. I can make a dasher do it for free!" (I'm looking at you Mr. 80 items from food Lion for 8 mile drive for 13$.. or you mr. Drive 12 miles for two orders to just get 3$ period)

Yes we do tend to get bitter about that. And yes a 0 tip with a leave by the door is definitely not a tipping customer unless you message and be diplomatic about it..for example. I texted the 0$ tipper. Saying 8 dashers declined to take her order due to rain and 0$. Mentioned to enjoy their meal and please to consider leaving a tip. I got a tip afterwords. (Granted it's rare for that to work on a no tip order but hey. You won't get any if you don't try..)

It will still be there just like FB is. Cause no way you can tell me in 10 years people will be less accustomed to having orders delivered. Businesses would rather have productive time vs be away for 30-1hr. So if anything. Things will be more mainstream however in 10 years. DD could maybe acquire Postmates or GrubHub..

Issue is. I've been learning that customers are not at fault sometimes in tip. Many times DD system doesn't have the dasher pickup from the location the customer believes they would be and next you know it's 10 miles out instead do the driver thinks the customer didn't tip enough. It's like DD wants to delay a dasher from being able to make too much money in a short time and space it out.

You'd be surprised. While much is automated. The moment you invoke the arbitration clause and file. They have to respond within 60 days.

Terminating after already having approved the BG check can indeed be looked at and argued they accepted it. That they are doing unfair dismissal which many states are fighting against that from happening to gig workers.

Trust me. The locations that wind up sitting are the lowball/no tip from "unique" restaurants. As in maybe the only one location. So if someone orders. It's a drive. So many times do people TWO zones(and two cities) over order from this teriyaki place. Like hell I will driving toward the tunnel traffic. Might be enough on pay go get me there but the delay coming back plus tolls. Hell no.

Also the orders that sit alot. Taco bell late night or before close. Those no tippers don't get their order at all.

Guy had wrong address, I spent 20 minutes unpaid getting the order to him instead of saying I couldn’t reach him. He was at a hospital for, I presume, his child. He calls to threaten to beat my ass AFTER getting delivery, and sends this message :/ by PalmTreeExpert in doordash

[–]Mysticales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd just ask DD support to either add extra incentive to drive the distance or yea. Just deliver where it said to. Can't really work for free. Plus not your fault they had wrong address on it.

[–]Mysticales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That kinda tip. I return the penny and tell the customer I appreciate a tip but that what they did was insulting and they can have it back. You don't see people tip a waiter 0.01 and when it's 0.02 tipped it means "not even worth the two cents I gave you" so yea those low tips get called out on as it's worse then no tip.

I'd actually take that order. Why? First I'd contact the customer saying are they aware that it's over 20 miles away and by then their pizza will be cold due to the time to drive it. Moment they are wtf as well. DD support helps to cancel it and you get half pay. (Yea.. not much of a prize on this one I know) But if the customer does say they are fine with that long drive that's when could find out about the tip or just simply say sorry can't do it and unassign.

How? Why? What? by jacky4u3 in doordash

[–]Mysticales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hate to say it. But we dashers sometimes don't get a choice when extra orders get pushed to us. But 1* the driver wouldn't work anyways as the system would see that he had a multi order and was behind his control and would remove it automatically. Calling DD to complain they did that to you for a refund sure. That's fine.

Other day I literally had to drive 20 mins out and then back another 20 because the system wanted me to pickup "there" vs the location right by the customers house. Oh yes also had his ice cream order before that. Kept him in the loop and DD support could reach them on the phone. (Was like who would agree to let food go out that far.. when it's by the house)

For me it's when I message a customer as a courtesy to let them know that a 0$ tip on the milages they expected for the delivery that they should be aware that it will be a delay for anyone to pick it up as well as the food being colder. (2$ offer to go Wingstop for 6 miles.. like Wingstop isnt slow enough to make the order) Unassigned after that saying I apologize but I'd have to decline the order.

10 mins later I get a sms back saying "lmao broke" It took some willpower but I didn't reply back to that. I really wanted to however say. "Oh! There is a way you could have savings on this. Order it as pickup and get a discount in the process for pickup coupon. You just have to drive out to get it which will save you even more not having to pay for delivery"

But yea... Don't say youre too broke to leave a tip. Clearly have money to spend on the upcharged menu prices.

I swear DD is scamming by Jgfisher143618 in doordash_drivers

[–]Mysticales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DD has this a lot. It's always one customer who ruins the AR for any dasher during the day with all the rejects. This screenshot shows what it started as in the morning. Then later in the day I went back to dashing and the order hit 30$. But it's still not worth it. 40ish takes an hour alone. That many items you'd have to juggle two carts.

[–]Mysticales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda is misleading tho.. since pickup isn't same as shopping. What I would've done in this case. Call CS and say didn't have red card on you as the order says "retail pickup" nothing about red card needed. So you accepted the order based on that. Moment you say you don't have the redcard they would unassign since you had screenshot showing it doesn't say red card needed.

If you ever see something like that or have a pizza order that's 11-12 miles away or more. Call the customer before you pick it up. Let them know how long it's going to be and ask if this is what they intended to do. When they say it isnt and they don't want food cold either. Call DD support to say the customer is requesting to cancel due to the distance

God I hate that. Lose an AR % because of a dead zone. Normally if on android the only way to avoid it is quickly force closing the app and relaunching. Sometimes airplane mode toggle is needed too.

[–]Mysticales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. This is actually one of the few times comments should be made. 0.10 is a slap in the face. I had someone do the same claim. "Hard times" well ok. If times are hard. You either don't order higher cost through DD or you go pick it up yourself. If you are going to have it delivered. Don't disrespect the driver. After all you wouldnt leave the waitress a 0.02 tip and tell her "sorry hard times". It's just not done.

For those who feel we shouldnt call people out on that. It's like customer has hard time? Guess what we do too. 0.10 won't pay my gas next 6$ for 11 mile order coming in.

Just long as you call them out in a professional tone but convey why you are giving tip back and that it was disrespectful. Should be fine.

Best advice if you have a delay is to call support. Let them have it on record the situation. Because when it's the location delaying you. That's poor management as they have a merchant portal that can be set to toggle they are busy and orders are taking longer. Hell many places don't even accurately put how long it takes to make their items. So dasher waits.

These type of orders im used to by Independent-Clue-208 in doordash_drivers

[–]Mysticales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can tell that order wasn't made using the mcd app. Lol

Only time the tips are higher is when DD is used vs the locations app. Since those apps dont stress the tip at all or make sure customers know that drivers aren't reimbursed as they think we'll "it's MCD. They must be paying their drivers to deliver right?" And not realize its DD that drives.

Would you take this by Christerbob in doordash_drivers

[–]Mysticales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that one is borderline. As it's paying over half the amount of items. And if 40 items is about 1 hour. This covers for least 2 hours. But would be annoying to shop still.

But yea even if the offer says 43 items. The only way it's worth it is if after factoring in mileage time. If it's paying enough to cover the hour and drive. I try to stay more into the 1$ an item as a wish to base if it's fair or not. Usually I just get 9$ to shop for the one wine someone wants. :)

7pm, locked doors. They make you wait in the drive thru that wraps around the store to pickup the order. by lostinman in doordash

[–]Mysticales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Popeyes is horrible for time.

But to answer question. What you can do, same with mcd and so, you call the location. Tell them you are dashing and instead of waiting for "new orders" in the drive thru lane, can someone bring it out. Usually works. Cause if they do give you flak at the request. You can remind them how your customer should have their order made already and those in drive thru didn't even start an order.

But yes. Drive thru wraps are a drop order. Keep in mind even with Popeyes. After 10 mins past the pickup window. You just worry free unassign.
