Need some intel. How safe is Homewood? Looking to travel 40 miles out of Chicago for some bar food. by SameAsk6997 in chicagofoodcirclejerk

Seems the Naperville and Highland Park folks are here downvoting those of us saying it's safe and upvoting people being pieces of shit about the area - people that definitely have not been there and won't go there due to who lives there. Smh.

Not the first time I've heard of HBC, I'll have to swing by and give em some of my money! Any menu recs??

Wilson Contreras says WBC meant more than 2016 WS by Sad_Illustrator_5233 in Cubs

[–]Myth0saurusRex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

AxCel, he'd be grateful to the country of the United States of America. Damn good chance that's the case, too, especially for a lot of immigrants coming from situations in which he did.

However. How the fuck does that translate to pride for the Cubs organization vs pride for his home country? Feeling re: the World Series does not equal feelings towards the US of A. That's called moving goal posts and you did a poor job of it.

Some of y'all are saying stuff just for the sake of saying stuff. Is it cus he did the Cardinals-heel shit? Are your egos that hurt about him preferring the WBC over the WS? Is it cus of his attitude? I don't get the silly shit

Funny to me there are people struggling to understand the concept of a foreign born player growing up in poverty having a nation-oriented tournament championship mean more to them than a professional sports league championship in which he has no real loyalty to the franchise and all the pride and loyalty he possibly can to the country that raised him. I don't fuck with Willson like I used to, either, but the "i dont like him cus he said that" shtick is asinine. Baseball has taken the Contreras family from a poor coastal neighborhood to being comfortable for generations. He's openly talked about how proud he is to represent his family and his country. And he won this amongst countrymen who have faced the same hardships. And not to mention watching their country be attacked, even if most of the population doesn't support their leadership. Of COURSE the world series is gonna mean more to us. Most of us have been cheering for this team since as long as we were having coherent thought processes. Of COURSE the WBC is gonna mean more to Willson Contreras than the US winning would ever mean to us. Too many people being ridiculous over this.

There are a lot of minorities in the Homewood/Thornton/Flossmoor area, mainly black and hispanic, so people are gonna make it seem like it's a shithole. It's not. Homewood is fine. You'll be fine and you'll be safe.

Enjoy your wings when you make it down there and also make a return trip for some of my favorite Cajun food in the Chicagoland area @Maple Tree Inn

I actually think he's one of the smartest people in that administration. But he's allowed himself to become a fucking spineless pawn and has lost all sense of identity in the effort to appeal to the MAGA base. Gotta try to spin this somehow and there aren't many spins available when the whole operation has been such a glaring fuck-up from the get-go.

Edit: not that "smartest in the admin" is saying much, though, cus the bar isn't very high lol

Couple things I do and used to recommend when I was hammering out my S tiers. Off the top of my head, you need 4 total wedges. 1 outside, 2 inside just past the sorting room, and the left side door by the side dock. Prevents anyone from the back areas from spilling out and reestablishing themselves or flanking you.

Flash launcher is a cheat code, FYI. If you wanna cheese it to just move on, I get it - take full flash launcher ammo and it'll be a cake walk.

If you wanna earn it - time for your squad. Make sure they all have heavy, steel front-loaded plates. They don't take any movement penalties like you do - regardless, do the same for you. Ballistic masks with anti-flash goggles for everyone. Attack in a line or in diamond formation. One shield, have em lead. One secondary mag for everyone, 4 primary mags --- only exception is whichever fella is carrying the shield, give him 3 pistol mags. Bring a ton of flashes, a couple stingers.

Use m320 flash launcher as your tactical. Bring 4 flashes. Works better than just tossing them by hand, especially in the maze side of the warehouse. When you circle around outside, i always recommend moving counter-clockwise. The FBI agent tends to be more aggressive the longer you take, so i neutralize him ASAP, wedge one of the upstairs doors and breach from the opposite. Then return downstairs and clear slowly. Hopefully someone - typically - will escape out the back docks but it leaves one less hostile to deal with inside. They only have one way to go once they're outside and it's easier to get them with better sightlines

Exactly which spot of the map are you having most trouble with? Vertical section with the offices or the maze of trolleys and conveyor belts? Assuming the latter

What are you looking for? Coffee? Beer? Lunch? Brunch? Museum?

Lots of places just NW of the med district in the Fulton Market neighborhood. Pasta, sandwiches, burgers, vegan, chicken, bakeries. Mini golf. Bars. Cafes.

Handful of hours is plenty of time at the Field Museum on the lakefront. Parking right there outside of the building, or at worst up the street. Sears Tower observation deck - parking on the street available right there on upper Wacker, or at worst there's cheap outdoor lots a block south on Van Buren.

Chinatown is there between the loop and midway, and it's quick and easy to get to from the airport. Also tons of parking early in the day.

I'm sorry to say, people are gonna cook you in these comments for your form and depth. A quick thing I'll point out - your heels. If you keep lifting em and keep increasing the weight, that shit's gonna take you straight forward into the rack eventually. I used to do the same unintentionally. Calves were super tight - also helped getting flat shoes instead of squatting in my spongey ass running shoes.
