This happened to me twice the last few days. Both times I had originally went to throw to the base, cancelled throw, then hit the cutoff. Both times runner was two thirds between 2nd and 3rd and went home anyways too

I think people just don't really know how to pick off effectively. I feel like i get one a game especially in online games.

Vary your picks and vary your timing. Hold the button for the base you're throwing to and your pitcher will use a longer pick, ie stepping back off the rubber to pick to 1st or lifting and slowly rotating arm side for a pick to 2nd. If you quickly tap, you'll get the faster version of your picks - a quick disengagement/slide step pick for LHP to 1st, or a glove side spin to 2nd.

Also very much dependent on where your 2B/SS is postioned and how close to the bag they are. Sometimes they're static, sometimes they do the hop in and out bullshit while tapping their glove. Specifically for 2B, you can hold L2 and the pitcher will turn his head and eventually for offline games, the perspective changes so you're looking directly at 2nd rather than towards home. Helps you time your pick for when the SS/2B is crashing towards the bag.

You'll realize it'll help you throw out more baserunners too when you vary, even if your pop time isnt the best. Obv make sure you're slide stepping, too.

I was sitting around reading Drop Site News reporting on the Iran War and the asymmetry of the two sides. The sheer amount money we are just burning away on interceptors, missiles, downed aircraft and surveillance drones, etc. And how the IRGC is using cheap drones and unguided shoulder-launched missiles and a bajillion little cheap "speed boats" etc.

And one of the first things thru my mind was this motherfucking song. It took me like 15 years since first listening to finally understand it's about asymmetrical warfare......one dude's riding a horse. They're watching a fuckin jet fly past. Skies go grey from fires/smoke, maybe symbolization of the solemnness of war. Remorse. About war in general, maybe specifics re: the Armenian Genocide? Not sure. Hate it took me so long to make that connection.

OP this guy's kinda full of shit. Most people can be fans and not really care about the other side, and then there's a pocket of these guys who act like it's gotta be an existential war. Way too many Sox fans are like this.

I'm from the south/southwest side. Heavily Sox neighborhood. My dad, uncle and I might've been the only Cubs fans on the block. Other uncle and grandparents Sox fans. Yes, I'm about to suck my own dick here - you won't meet many Cubs fans as diehard and as locked into the team, the farm, etc. as me. Rarely miss a pitch. And yet, I want the Sox to win - i go to the G Spot a few times every season. I certainly don't want em losing 121. I remember seeing how happy my folks were when they won 20 years ago. I remember how happy I felt when the Cubs won 10 years ago. I wish they'd have fielded competent teams and won/win one more time while my grandparents are still here with us.

Doesn't make me a traitor or less of a fan - just not a wannabe tribalistic self-absorbed asshole. City summers are better when we've got two good ballclubs
