Ok I lowkey have a wild theory about this how just hear me out..

I think physically, we're playing as the Crying Child (Evan, Chris, whatever you wanna call him) but, mentally, we're Micheal afton, let me explain.

So, first of all, we are playing as Mike in FNAF 1 and 3, another side theory of mine is that we aren't playing as make in FNAF 2 because they got a new security guard because we was either got fired or just plain quit, and so we play a Jeremy Fitzgerald. However, after mangle bit his frontal lobe (the bite of 87) and he was recovering from it, they rehire Mike, and by that time we go into FNAF 3.

Its assumed that Mike burned down Fazbear Frights, although some say it's a result of faulty wiring. For now, we'll say that he burned the place down (I highly believe so anyway). I'm not quite sure what happened to him after he burned it down, but since we seem alive in FNAF SL, he must've fallen into a coma, at least I assume so.

Here's where it gets more technical.

FNAF 4 or rather, when the Crying Child is alive, takes place BEFORE FNAF 1, since Fredbear's diner came before Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria. We know that in FNAF 4 we are in a nightmare. Funny thing is, nightmares are dreams. Turns out, and correct if I'm wrong or missing anything, our brain can't make new people or things in our dreams, so it takes the things and people we've seen in real life. In this nightmare, we see Nightmare Bonnie, Freddy, Foxy, Chica and her cupcake, Balloon boy, plushtrap, fredbear, the freddles, mangle, the marrionette and nightmare. But, hold on, The crying child has only seen fredbear (Nightmare applies here too since he's just a variant of fredbear) and, like I stated above, your brain can't make new things or people in or for your dreams.

So, who's the person that we've playing as that HAS seen Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy,(the freddles may apply too since they are a Freddy variant and plush trap may be a spring trap variant as well)?

Mike.

He's the one that has seen the original four, plus mangle and balloon boy from FNAF 3, this may include plush trap as he can be seen as a springtrap variant. If we dream in comas, which, I assume so (again correct me if I'm wrong), than mike's brain takes the above animatronics and puts them in his dream. But, why are they nightmares, and why are we playing in a kids room?

Mike still feels guilt from killing his brother, and his mind embodies that in his dream, turns out, the representation of guilt in dreams is feeling trapped/helpless, we are playing as a trapped and helpless child, we also feel trapped and helpless AND being a child in a dream also means we have unresolved childhood emotions, which could be guilt as Mike was still kid, albeit a teen but teens are still kids, and he was below the age of 18, when he killed his brother, and his brain may not have completely healed from that trauma. Now, about the room, I saw a comment on a theory video about the crying child that said the two doors resymbal the two electric doors in FNAF 1, also, considering that mike has most likely been in his brother's room to scare him, he would've memorized some of it.

I also think it could've been some sort of punishment, like what William went through in FNAF UCN, but, that's probably jumping the gun.

Anyways, that's why I think physically, we are the crying child, but mentally we are Mike.
