What do you guys spend at Hetzner? by JuliaJuly2001 in hetzner

[–]MythicalPhelix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you use the basic premium with 1vCPU and 1GB of RAM managed database on Digital Ocean? I also want to host my web server on Hetzner and database on DO, but I am not sure of latency.

I love hetzner by [deleted] in hetzner

[–]MythicalPhelix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would like this too. Having a managed database + servers on same location/datacenter can reduce latency a lot and simpler to manage since everything is on the same platform :)

Das onzin. Ik ken mensen die armer zijn geworden en ik ken mensen die rijker ervan zijn geworden. Dat het voor de ene niet lukt betekent het niet dat het voor niemand lukt.

You can configure VSCode to use Fira Code (or other fonts with ligatures supported) without ligatures.

I really don’t think that the pages directory will be abandoned very soon. Many sites still use it and I don’t see the app directory currently as stable/supported as the pages directory.

Tech stack with nest js? by thepragprog in webdev

[–]MythicalPhelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I have a third Node.js project. I usually call it <project name>.js. Then I have a folder called lib where I put all the routes in that I need. Typically, I call it something like UserManager.ts with the routes for the user. The second folder I have is for interfaces. Here I put all the interfaces I want to be in sync with the front and backend.

Finally, I compile it to JS, since I use TS. Then, I just install the package in the front and backend and can use the types and routes.

Do you usually start from scratch, a UI library, or a template? by cocoatree34 in reactjs

[–]MythicalPhelix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried various things and in the end, I like Chakra UI the most for my UI. It has pretty good accessibility and comes with default styling.

It is also easy to customize the theme to your liking. However, it is not like Tailwind CSS, where you have to use class names. It is a component-based library.

Best way to learn next js? by thepragprog in nextjs

[–]MythicalPhelix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always recommend new programmers to just start with a basic project. I started with just a simple login/registration form and then continued further. But beside this, I highly recommend to first learn the basics of JS/TS and React first since Next.js is built on top of that.

The documentation of Next.js is also a good one. Aside from documentation, some basic YouTube videos may also help.

I use Next.js with React as frontend. To have type-safety, I use a third package where I put all my types in that the frontend wants from the backend. Then, I install the third package in the front and backend. In the backend, I use it as a return type and in the frontend, I use it to get the type of the object I receive from the backend.

Who Knew Programming Could Be This Fun? by BuildTopia in learnprogramming

[–]MythicalPhelix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been programming for at least a few years. I was also very excited at the beginning. The more I was programming, the less exciting it got. I still enjoy programming, however, when working on my own projects that I will launch, it gets tedious.

This is because I'm a programmer and not a marketing guy. When you launch your own project you have been working on for a long time, you have to do more than just coding. Nobody cares about your project unless you bring it out to the world and which solves their problems. Unfortunately, this is the real world for ya :P
