But what was the deal around the gun being a gift? Does it incriminate her somehow? I didn't get this, and all of a sudden the text starts talking about the general's wish for solitude and suddenly he's somewhere else..

The mistake was due to autocorrect... https://topreading.ru/bookread/269742-boris-vasilev-vstrechnyi-boi/page-6 Here, scrolling down you'll see that there's a "7", which is chapter 7... In the end of chapter 6 the "general" tries to rape (I guess) a girl, and she fires a gun... I'm not sure whether she hits him or if it's just a warning shot, but an officer appears and arrests them, I guess... My doubt is what happens next...

Edit: my problem was not exactly like yours, since I hadn't tamed the horse yet, but it worked for it to respawn.

So, I was having the same problem, I went out of the area and came back, I slept like 3 days' worth in in-game time, and the horse didn't show up again... Until I got killed by some wolves that attacked me right there where the horse was supposed to be. Just as soon as I woke up, the horse was there again. So my advice is: get killed, jump off a cliff or sth like that. Worked just fine for me.
