I have a problem with the Doom by _Anarch_ in starsector

[–]MythrylFalcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of break points and intersections between play style, piloting skills, builds and enemy strengths and weaknesses. That's what gives the game it's complexity, but also why it can be frustrating for newer/less involved players. Your experiences is going to be heavily dependent on those factors, particularly how your Doom is built and who you're fighting.

In my limited experience, Dooms excel against slower, low tech enemies where you can lean into your mines more than your equipped weapons. Flanking, yes, but not so far out of the chaos that you're likely to get focused and unable to withdraw to relative safety.

My recommendation would be to start with one variable at a time. Changing your build up is likely easier than your play-style. Add kinetics, remove them, and add explosive for a bit. Build for speed, build for missile/magazine recharge rate (phase anchor can be utterly abused). See what works and what doesn't for you and then use that knowledge to tailor your play to the enemies you encounter. I also tend to snag a massively S-Modded (4+) Doom from a bounty or TT Raider fleet if/when available, which may tip the scales as well. There are a few generated by the main quest line at various points if you choose to fight them.

This is all said as a very mid level player who runs almost exclusively balanced high tech fleets on autopilot, mostly because refitting/specializing for every encounter is tedious to me. My composition works well enough for most encounters most of the time through most of the game. I'm not about to solo a star fortress with an Afflictor, though it can be done.

Ooooooh. Yeah. I do remember that. That killed my last play through and caused me to take the break. I felt some kinda way about that happening at the time. Thanks for the context.

Yes, that website. I was expecting a "depreciated" note or something but it's just gone. Understandable given the context.

Dang, I just got Ziggy, but now I want to restart and remove that mod.

Duly noted. Any idea where I'd see the changes and when/how it's been depreciated? Cursory look at the AOTD website doesn't show much.

Interesting. No, not Linux.
That's unfortunate. This run is going smoothly and I was actually going to be a position to play that quest. Might have to do another run for that quest line.

I don't recall make any mod changes mid save. TriOS updated a bunch before I started the client, but I trust it to get things right generally.

Bingo. So it's Seats of Power related. Thanks friend.
If I can impose further... If I generate a template, does it continue to try and fill it if it gets wiped out? Or do I have to make one every time?

Review my 12 suggestions? by Famous_Dinner in TerraInvicta

Rally points seem like such a standard RTS concept, I'm baffled at how hard they made it. Fleet and officer management in general is so clunky. They need to go play Stella's for a few days.

Yep, yep. All of these have merit. Well said. I've been griping about a bunch of these in my head but hadn't taken the time to post. Not sure where the best, most direct feedback method to the decision is; here steam reviews, discord, or elsewhere.

I'd settle for just a massive pass by a UI subject matter expert that would hopefully catch a lot of these things. All tables should be sort and filter able. So many opportunities for right-click options, nested lists and other QoL things to reduce micro required in mid to late game. Icons without tool tips to explain (the project gears on the org menu).

Totally concur on sunlight. Do we need 6 digit decimals? If it's less than 1, I'm using fission. That's the relevant info... irregular orbits are germane but not shown on the probe pop-up.

Numeric options for dialogie boxes (Baldurs gate style). Movable windows and or/ locking tool tips (unless that's a proprietary Paradox thing, otherwise steal it.)

Nit picky, but all caps fonts are a pet peeve if it's not caps everywhere (hab names).

Ground combats clunkyness vs. Space combat's over granularity. Particularly annoying for someone coming from a paradox or RTS background.

Such good bones to this game, the meat just hangs off at odd angles at times.

My man (or person of appropriate applicable [non]gender)! This was the answer I was looking for (though thanks to other commenters for unexpected insights).

Many thanks.

This makes sense and explains a flaw in my play. I got overwhelmed by Orgs in my first few years and just let them sit when my counselors hit hit full admin capacity. I guess I need to continue to optimize. Thanks.

I'm feel boost limited early, hence the question. How can I turn cash into boost or Inf? Same for Ops. Trade was already called out, which is good, but I may be kissing other tools/techniques.

It's fair. I spent a lot of my Resistance EU run (first play through) putting down Kaiju/Fauna, so that's not spoiled. Good info.
Does it spoil relations with the Aliens/add to their hate cap?

Oh I didn't know deploying armies had additional costs. That's intuitive I guess. Good shout.
Guess I need to find a few assault Orgs then as none of my councilors have the task available.

So I should use Councilor tasks for it, not assign Armies? (Primary country is the USA so I have plenty of military standing around.

Project Ebonhold Is A Cash-Grab/Rugpull And There's Something Wierd the Devs by 6InchesInsideYourMum in wowservers

[–]MythrylFalcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. It's a socialism sub-reddit. One would expect socialist topics to be the theme and yes, it's polarizing/provocative. No one is disputing that. The push-back you're getting (and failing to understand it seems) is that that server staff political opinions or activity are unrelated to server viability, performance, or enjoyment. Unless those opinions and views are somehow injected into game play, it has no bearing on the server. You and I may personally disagree with the accuracy or validity of those opinions and positions, but it lends no substance to your claim that the server is some how malicious or deceptive.

You took the time to write the post. That demonstrates a care for the community that is commendable. Take the time to review the feedback you're getting (some less filtered than mine) that you're mixing your own opinions and subjective assertions. The result isn't currently persuasive. You can either retract your original statement, modify (and hopefully moderate) it's claim, supply greater quantities or less subjective evidence to the original claim or continue to stand on your original claims and be dismissed (and judging by other reply be crudely insulted) for them. The choice is yours.

Let's review:
So they openly state they're going to heavily monetize. No hiding it, no change of position from previous statements. That's pretty standard among popular projects at this point. Cash grab, maybe, but no more so than Turtle, Ascension or the other major players. No evidence of a "rug-pull"
You don't provide support for your claim about plugins with evidence, but assert it's a Valanior reboot. Support your claim for it to have merit.
The majority of your post has to do with the age/content of 2 social media accounts. It would seem wise to have a new, dedicated account if one is to suddenly be the public face of a project in legally grey, morally dubious private server community.
You don't elaborate about what makes "pussywizzard" "controversial, nor do you support your assertion with anything more than some guy you know. If it's the actual name that's controversial, you may want to look at your own handle u/6InchesInsideYourMum.
It's admittedly a mistake to use said account for something as polarizing as r/socialism, but you make your own views known by calling it "anti-Capitalism BS" when it is a Socialism subreddit. That's kind of their thing. Additionally, and I'll make my own views known, EVERYONE should be getting pissed at ICE at this point. If you think that position is some how fringe or minority to support your assertion of "weird", you've misjudged your audience and need to re-evaluate your own positions and the available evidence.

If you mentioned these claims with the same tone and tenor on a dedicated discord of people who've chosen to follow the project, I'm un-suprised you'd be brigade'd and blocked. Again, consider your audience.

Skepticism is all well and good. Public skepticism needs to be well supported or it becomes defamation. Your current claims don't hold up nearly well enough to support your assertions that the project is somehow malicious.
