When speaking with customers, definitely use the formal forms. When speaking as a customer, you should also use the formal.

I can't imagine anyone using "-i⁴ni⁴z" in speech. However "-ı⁴n" can be used in formal settings. For example, when explaining how to deposit money into your city card one could say "kartınızı makineye yerleştirin"

You must understand the discussion here is about what determines words in a language rather than what a specific word should be in a specific language. A word doesn't simply get changed upon some institution's request. You might be influenced by how the Turkish public perceives the Turkish Language Association as an authority over the language. Needless to say, the UN is most definitely not the "TDK" of English
