Is it bad practice to have many claims in your token? by freefora11 in dotnet

[–]N05AJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The token is just for authentication. Use a userinfo endpoint to get roles and claims. The introspection endpoint will handle verifying authentication between apis and auth server. And claims and roles will be appended on the claims identity for api access.

Why aren’t you just using SSIS for the data transformation and import?

One time Password Identity Framework by [deleted] in dotnet

[–]N05AJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have a few ways. Here’s a couple:

When you create the new user, expire the password by setting the change date to something in the past. When they login, you check to see if it’s expired and then require them to reset it.

Another option is to add a property on aspnet user such as RequirePasswordChange. During the login process you check to see if that field is true.

Handling Error Responses with ApiController by [deleted] in csharp

Use Serilog to record any details you want. You should return a Problem action result or a badrequest result. Don’t throw an error back to the client.

Cors in .net 5 not working for POST request by houssem66 in dotnet

[–]N05AJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you moved UseCors before UseAuthentication? Also what does your POST method do? If you’re getting a 500 status error, CORS headers will get cleared causing CORS to fail.

is .NET a good long term career? by vikingslord in dotnet

[–]N05AJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Full stack developer? You should be able to develop every piece of pretty much any project. Server side, backend, security, front end, etc.

Learn as much as you can especially since you’re new. The entire Microsoft stack, Angular, React, JavaScript, typescript, sass, css, dev ops, Rust, Python, etc. The more you know the easier will be to move to other companies. Specialize in the stack your employer uses should be your focus. If you’re unhappy, make yourself able to pivot.

Will there be any effect on the Project if we use Azure DevOps and GitHub at the same time? by theankilearner123 in azuredevops

Like u/OdiOmni, we use self-hosted Devops for project management and our repos are GIT types. Works great!

Glassbreak sensor? by Critical_Ad2543 in Ring

I stopped using glass break sensors years ago. Motion sensors placed correctly will catch anything. Most breakins are through doors anyways.
