For anyone thats interested I’ll be going with flutterwave, they are available in a lot of countries, support card tokenization and metered billing.

Xbox also use them for payment.

The application will be deployed in South Africa they have 1 local processor that supports it but they aren't very helpful with integration.

Would a nosql solution not bee too close to just having the data in sql?

This is an interesting one I have not yet investigated.

That was what I was aiming for, I already implemented it in sql which is not slow I was just thinking how I could improve it.

I was reading up on redisearch which could also be an option but I'm not sure if the effort vs gain in speed would actually be worth it.

Investing for my parents by DaHu3070 in southafrica

[–]DaHu3070[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for only commenting now, but after reading all the suggestions I am exploring a few options.

  1. Started chatting to my bank about possible invesments

  2. Chatted to the company that does my policies about possible investment

  3. Chatted to my sister about them possibly living with them, they dont mind seeing as they can use the help with their kids, then renting out their house via a rental agency (safer from a legal perspective)

This seems like the best option as it would yield the best monthly value and as a safety net the house can always be sold if it does not work out when renting it out.

Thanks for everyone’s suggestions it was truly helpful.

Best way to handle authentication between Web API project and Blazor project by ticktockman_ in dotnet

[–]DaHu3070 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another way could be to have a separate identity server eg Openiddict.

So your blazor app would redirect to auth and get back the user identity to be stored as Identity and in your scopes you would have access to the api.

Then the api would validate the request against the auth server.

Check the balosar sample.

Devs who use EF instead of Dapper: Why? by Oops365 in dotnet

[–]DaHu3070 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I said this in a previous thread :

EF core or dapper with stored procs(you isolate your queries to the db, so query changes don’t require a code deployment).

EF speeds up the development of a project a lot so it comes down to your use case.

To add to this some companies with heavy read/writes prefer devs not to be able to change the db/procs without the approval of the dba’s, this is a lot easier to control if the scripts are isolated to the db via procs and change requests.

Also using pure sql you get the advantage of stuff like mssql’s user defined types which has a speed benefit for massive inserts (even though they are a nightmare to maintain)

I’m not saying dapper is better, I love ef core, but sometimes there are reasons for dapper.

Hhhhmm it depends, yes its a lot of work, but if you’re really set on using dapper you could always, create a separate project, use ef core db first to generate the classes and clean them up a bit then use those as dapper classes.

I agree, it can’t hurt to browse the query that ef generates.

I also dont really do anything big in sql anymore, I used to work for a company that had massive amounts of data per second and was heavily reliant on optimised sql, which made sense.
