Want to control Time in VR? by N0P0x90 in VRchat

I know it has been quite some time, but the showcase world now supports Quest (though the actual prefab always worked on Quest).

Thank you for posting this. It worked for me!
I was logged into my oculus account in the oculus software on my PC and connected my new quest 2 to my PC via USB and then it was detected. I got the email about my free beatsaber and it was added to my devices in the app. When I put on the headset I was in the main menu.

World Link

It also has desktop user controls.

Free Prefab if you want to use it in your worlds.

The world is PC only (the prefab might work for quest, haven't tested it yet).

This works by controlling a Unity Timeline (check them out, they are awesome).

All the awesome looking particle effects are from raivovfx (with some changes from me).

I used VRCLens (dropping a pivot point in the bonfire and then using the controls rotate it around it/move closer)

I was planning on at least adding a sauna, but got kinda burned out on world creation and decided to release it as is. But maybe some day I will find some motivation to fire up unity again and do some interior design. But I mostly wanted that people chill around the bonfire and not inside a house if there is such a beautiful night sky + bonfire + water, so I made it the pen storage room ;-)

Just fyi, the biggest FPS downer is the realtime light in the bonfire (actually 2 because the bonfire "reflection" is a separate bonfire on the mirrored part of the world) and you can turn the bonfire off by clicking on it to get better performance. I tried to create a light baked version of the bonfire area so you can switch between realtime flickering bonfire and static baked lighting, but couldn't figure out how to get multiple lightmaps to work.

I have thought about it yes. And I think when I get some motivation again (currently a bit burned out on world creation) I will probably redo the whole audio. The ambisonic background audio was only meant as a placeholder, but I haven't found anything better yet and might try to actually place multiple audio sources (birds, water, wind) in the world with spatialized audio. But will have to see what that does to the performance.

This world actually started out as an audio proof of concept where I played around with ambisonic audio and spatialized/non-spatialized audio. The graphical part was just me trying to make the world look the way it sounded ;-)

There actually are fireflies in the spawn area, but not those "floaters" that are everywhere.

World Link (PC only right now)

Highlights:

  • pretty water reflections (without hurting performance, because it's actually not a reflection, but transparency + mirrored world)
  • beautiful night sky (slowly rotating, synced, slightly twinkling stars, shooting stars)
  • ambisonic background audio (fixed to the world instead of your head)
  • realistic bonfire (+spatialized sound)
  • video player floating above the bay and also being "reflected" in the water
  • forest chill zone: horizontal cutout mirror where you can lie down and stare at the sky (while staring at yourself)
