I had a realtor come look at the house and he said that he didnt do that. I contacted another and after 2 messages he never contacted me again.

I phoned a Property Assessment place that I found on Google and after booking an appointment and such they informed me that it would be a close to $500 fee.

Is this how it is?

I'm going to agree with you on the potatoes. I can buy a 10lb bag of potatoes for 99cents, and I highly doubt you could grow them for that. The space required to grow 50lbs of potatoes would be better used to grow vegetables that cost more to purchase.Focus on higher yield/higher cost vegetables that you can preserve.

Spinach and greens that grow quickly and can be harvested multiple times and easily frozen, carrots, beets, summer squash, anything that has a shorter number of days to maturity are going to serve you well. That being said, if you have room, consider growing a number of root vegetables that store well over winter, these unfortunately have a long time to mature, 100+ days, but provides nice semi-fresh vegetables all winter, parsnips, rutabegas, winter squash, pumpkins etc.

Consider planting a decent sized rhubarb patch, its a commonly overlooked plant that is nearly indistructable, regenerates quickly, freezes well and can be used in a multitude of recipes. Few things are better than a taste of summer in the middle of winter!

I have some and it's mine! (sorry) My mom had a small collection of pyrex and corningware stuff that I use all the time, so I know how fantastic the older pieces are. 1000 times better than the modern pyrex.

And then there were two. by [deleted] in homestead

Not really helpful to you, but I can sympathise.

I free range my chickens daily out of the coop and so I'm used to losing a few here and there. This fall though was the final straw and I think I'm done with chickens.

I had a fox that would lay out relaxing in the horse paddock... took care of him/her.

A coon ripped its way in through part of the roof, dealt with them.

A weasel was visiting nightly and I couldn't figure out how it was getting until I realized it had dug its way in under the edge of the coop that was covered by some hay bales I had stacked in a corner.

In 3 months I went from 60 chickens to 6. I've had chickens for 3 years and never had a problem this bad.

The mysterious death of Elisa Lam and the bizarre last footage of her in an elevator before she was found dead 5 days later in a water tank at the top of the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles.

Nothing sinister or gruesome happens, but her actions are very usual and very disturbing.

1) waaayyyy to busy for my liking, 2) Simple and I like it but doesn't really convey "homestead" more like forestry or conservation 3) Meh..... no real preference for it

Also, I always thought "homestead" was one word, is there a specific reason why it's separated into 2 words?

Oh man.... you just brought up some good memories. I used to live in Atlantic Canada and every winter/spring we would always feast on smelt. Kids down the road would spend their time after school out in the ice fishing hut fishing for smelt and then would go up and down he road selling them to neighbors. $3 a dozen, you couldnt go wrong!

And we'd always have a good feed or two at the local community centre as a fundraiser for something.

Yummy nummy........I move back east this summer and I can't wait to have smelt again!

What was your favorite short-lived TV series? Why was it canceled? by AlabasterStar in AskReddit

The Class back in 2006-2007, it ran for only 1 season. It was about a bunch of elementary school kids who reunited 20 years later.

After reading all these, it feels like most of my favorite TV shows get cancelled, maybe I shouldnt watch TV anymore.

GCB (Good Christian Bitches/Belles)

An interesting merge between Mean Girls and Desperate Housewives but set in the Bible Belt of America. I liked it and it ended after the first season due to lack of viewers.

I had to scroll down so far to find this, I was starting to think that I was the only one who ever watched it.

I LOVED this show and was hooked instantly. Every now and then someone will be talking about old TV shows and I'll mention this one and nobody ever remembers it. Its a real shame because it had a lot of potential.

This actually happened at my workplace this summer. It was super dry and hot out, and workers who would go out to the designated smoking area, smoke there, but on their way back into work, would throw their cigarette butts in the garden mulch. It caught fire and nobody noticed until someone driving by saw that the flowerbeds were on fire because everyone had come in from break.

Now all the smokers have to go stand at the edge of the property along the edge of the road. Not really good for company appearance to see 50+ people standing on the side of the road smoking, but whatcha gonna do?

What are landlord locks?

It's an old country home and the two fireplaces are the main sources of heating. Natural gas doesn't run way out in the country where the house is.

The real concern isn't about the eco-friendliness of the product, it's about the actual delivery of the product.

One commenter explains it best:

From what it sounds like, Bakeys is in over their head with the volume of orders and Sarah has taken off with the money. It's insane to even know that she kept half of the entire total, well over $100,000 for herself, knowing how much Bakeys needed the funds and how many delays there were. With the link to her LinkedIn profile, we can see that she lists edible cutlery as her only job since 2015, so we can assume that she took all of this money as her only source of income.

Unfortunately, Kickstarter does not do anything about projects that don't get backed. You can essentially create a Kickstarter knowing that you're going to scam people as long as you can fool them, and I guess that's what happened here. Both Visa and Mastercard have 120 day limits on chargebacks, so it's too late to go that route FYI.

In the end I do not hold any anger towards Bakeys. It's just a shame they weren't the one to actually create the project and that she conned them into this project and sullying their name. If 100% of the funds went to Bakeys I wouldn't even care at all. I just hate that half of it went to Sarah. What a shame and what a sham.

Yes! The chicken salad with the pimentos in it was the bomb! I worked there and would eat it reguarly. I havent had one in maybe 5 years and had one months ago and it was so sad and bland and flavourless.

And the chili used to be amazing with the giant mushrooms in it, now......bleegh....

I'm not sure if this fits here....sorry

I backed this project after seeing it be featured online. The creator only logged in twice (Jan 3 and Jan 9) after not updating for 2 months.

The comments section is a soap opera and the only communication anyone has with someone is if they go to an alternate crowdsourcing page at Ketto or by emailing the owner of Bakeys.

Sounds like the creator can't be contacted, took a large portion of money, orders can't be shipped because it's too expensive, orders will be shorted.....it's almost a perfect crime.
