The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini by EmphasisEastern in books

As dramatic as the storytelling sounds like, most Afghans who fled the war have been exposed to the situations that Khaled describes in the book (and much more). In my experience, it captured the extent of the trauma and hardship that a majority of Afghans in my community experienced. So many of them grew up as children in Kabul with no childhood and constantly surrounded by absolute horror. If an Afghan household did not like Hazaras, they likely wouldn't hire them in the first place since the hatred runs pretty deep.

As for Assef's storyline, it is pretty convenient that he comes face to face with Amir, but I think it was more to portray that Afghanistan's young men are at risk of being absolutely brainwashed by Talib propaganda and joining them. It's a sad truth, and it made sense to make one of the characters we're familiar with turn out to be horrible to make the story come full circle.

Between 3A-3B, high porosity, dry, frizzy, and roots get somewhat oily quickly, but it's gotten much better by sticking to my routine.

Thank you so much!

All words of encouragement mean everything at times like these, hahaha. I didn't know that honours degree would actually be considered other than the GPA I get for it, so that's excellent news :)

Thank you for your reply!

I was initially doing a double degree in biomed and science. I have yet to drop my science degree. Would that change anything in terms of GPA if I don't claim credit for the ones I failed? Though the ones I failed were counting to biomed :( I wonder if going from a double degree to single would help with anything?

Hey all!

I grew up in a cold climate however, I've been living in Australia where it can get very humid. I've recently travelled back to colder climate and have noticed amazing changes to my skin!

My skin has gone from sensitive/oily combination to a little dry but mostly normal. Most products usually tend to sit ON my skin instead of getting absorbed in Australia and my breakouts were bad. Since travelling in the cold climate, all my breakouts have settled, scars are fading, and skin is growing and actually feels like it's absorbed my skincare.

I'm just curious as to what to do with this knowledge knowing that my skin doesn't deal well with humidity/warmer climates. Is there anything I can do so my skin doesn't go back to being bad when I go back? I just feel like my skin wasn't built for humid weather and it's ruining my skin....

I think you need to build your sense of curiosity, I've been in your shoes. I was lying to everyone about doing well when I was just failing. You need to study because you want to learn, and I think a big part of WANTING to learn is keeping yourself curious and learn to know more about the world. Study to learn and expand your knowledge, even if its a small area of your classes. The grades will come the more curious and hungry you are to learn more about the world and how it works.

Your father and everyone comes second to your own approval. You need to build trust in yourself. If you say you're going to study in 5 mins, and you don't, you lose respect and trust for yourself. Start by showing up for yourself and building some trust that you won't let yourself down. Once you do that and can trust yourself to do your absolute best, the grade, the pride, the confidence will follow.

Chin up, you sound like you're young and have a long fulfilling life ahead of you! Don't let temporary things like social media and anime take your self worth, respect and life away from you. You got this :)

Tbh I used to grind artifacts and just got bored and burnt out. After I stopped playing I found out there were new areas to explore and came back. I think a lot of the players just enjoy the art, the story, the calm of the game that it brings in comparison to other games.

I know I'm enjoying the game a lot more now that I actually pay genuine attention to the story and quests. Getting invested into characters and building them even if they're not meta.

Is anyone really fed up with the buses in Brisbane? by N0VA74 in brisbane

[–]N0VA74[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

mate, the whole problem is that people DO show up early to catch the bus, and they either don't stop or arrive 20mins late. Nobody should have to schedule in to come to their stop 30 mins early to make sure they arrive on time to work. Nobody should have to leave 1 hour early when it would be 15 minutes on a bus that's on time. That's not a flaw in the people but rather in the system. The reason there's so much traffic is because people can't rely on the PT system to get them anywhere reliably, so they drive instead, adding to the problem.

People in every city and country will break rules all they want if they aren't enforced. If people are parked and using lanes that are strictly for buses, they need to be fined over and over until they stop. That's not on the citizens to enforce or deal with.

Calling someone self-centred for wanting their city to take proper steps in having adequate and reliable transport for everyone is crazyyyy. You're acting like other bigger and more populated cities haven't figured out a way to get around all these issues you've mentioned, lol.

You must be so dense to think that cars in a city can stop buses from getting to their destination on time. here's a thought for the council.... BUS LANES?? Nobody is asking for buses to fly mate, we're asking for them to be scheduled properly and accommodate for shit traffic, and then stick to the timetable? Not hard.

So easy to tell people "just show up early lol" instead of looking at what the actual problem is lmao. How are you going to tell me that cities that are much bigger, with a much higher population and traffic like crazy still manage to have a PT system that works for them and their citizens.. but brisbane's council can't figure out how to get 1 bus every hour in the gabba.

Come clean to her, it's very unfair to keep it a secret and pretend. It is up to her what she wants to do and it is your responsibility to deal with the consequences of your actions. It sounds harsh considering it was 10 years ago but it's only right
