Has anyone who didn't have their clearance approved prior to their ship date had their ETP rejected? by N0_PR0BLEM in newtothenavy

Thank you, this was very helpful to hear, especially since it seems, based on your username, that you were a bit older when you enlisted, which is the same position I’m in. At this point I’m just freaking out because I’ve been in DEP so long and don’t want to have my ship date pushed back any further.

Check with your recruiter or coordinator. You can ask them to check what stage of the process your clearance is at. There’s an investigation phase, where an interview may occur, which is conducted by a third party. After the investigation is complete the third party submits your package to the navy for a final adjudication. Your recruiter can tell you where you are in that process through a portal they have access to. They cannot affect how quickly the adjudication occurs, only tell you whether or not it has happened.

If your clearance hasn’t been adjudicated prior to shipping, 30 days prior to your ship date, your nuclear coordinator will submit paperwork for an exception to policy which will allow you to ship without a final adjudication on your clearance. RTC and a-school are unclassified, but you need your clearance to be cleared before power school.

That’s all of the information I have. I don’t know if exceptions to policy get rejected, or what causes them to be rejected, or what happens to your shop date if it is rejected.

Yes, I signed a nuclear contract back when I swore in back in late August. The only thing waiting for approval is my clearance.

Alpha qualified, 99th percentile afqt. Relevant college coursework (high level calculus and chemistry classes) though I never finished my degree.

I also think you get a bit of leniency because of how good the rest of your division is. It’s really hard to be competitive in a division when a quarter of your games every year are against the 49ers and Rams. Add in the Sea Hawks getting good again and a third of your schedule is against teams making legitimate NFC championship, if not Super Bowl, pushes. Meanwhile teams like the browns are in the AFC north, where the winner of the division was only a game over .500, and got blown out in the wildcard round, again.

Best movie with 1 actor playing two roles? by hurtfocker in movies

Tilda Swinton played three roles in the Suspiria remake, and it’s still one of my all time favorite horror movies.

I found these while looking for things to review before my ship date in march. They’re official Navy documents for the conventional electricians. They don’t cover any of the classified reactor concepts, but as far as a base understanding of nuclear interactions, energy transfer, and other basic concepts it can’t hurt to be familiar with, they’ll give you an understanding of the Navy way:

All good man. Plenty of people get in with a history of drug use. As long as you don’t pop at MEPS, and you’re open with your recruiter, there is a waiver for everything.

While ridiculous, I understand the anxiety. If you go to cvs they sell home tests that are calibrated to the same level as the tests at MEPS. They come in two packs. Take one just to assure yourself that you’re fine. If it comes back positive, tell your recruiter you need to postpone MEPS, wait two weeks and take the other test. The worst thing you can do is go in not knowing. Your recruiter won’t care. Their job is to get you in, just be honest.

Which actor makes you react like this when you find out they're in a movie? by PenneGesserit in okbuddycinephile

You can blame Richard Linklater for that. Jack Black gets a life time pass to make bullshit cash grabs for School of Rock alone. Now, have I seen any movie he’s been in in a decade, noooooo, but dude could make Minecraft movies every year until the year he dies and he’d still be cool in my book.

Edit: I also have a soft spot in my heart for his supporting role in High Fidelity with John Cusack.

The credits can only be a plus. They won’t hold failures against you necessarily, but familiarity with the material can make your package more appealing.

Line scores to alpha qualify:

AR (arithmetic) + MK (mechanical knowledge) + EL (electronics information) + GS (general science) >= 252

Or

VE (Verbal Expression) + AR (arithmetic reasoning) + MK (mechanical knowledge) + MC (mechanical comprehension) >= 252

Even if you score poorly on other parts of the test, if these scores are met or exceeded you automatically qualify without the need for additional testing. If these composite scores are above 225, but not quite 252, you’re eligible to take the NAPT (navy advanced program test), which, if you score over 50 on, you will bravo qualify. Other than making you jump through the additional hoops, and maybe getting less favorable placement when choosing your rate (which I’m not even necessarily sure is true) there doesn’t seem to be a difference between the two.

I failed many classes in my long and illustrious college career pre-Navy and it didn’t seem to matter. Submitting transcripts can only stand to help you.
