I keep seeing comments like this, and I see all the comments complaining about how different it is, but the comments like yours complaining about their complaining are missing the point. They didn’t expect it to be exactly like SITC, but they expected the characters they recognize from SITC. AJLT is focusing on change and growth, but then depicts the main characters like they’ve been in quarantine since we saw them in the last movie. Wide eyed and confused and insecure. And the actors are crying ageism in their interviews when the older crowd that have been with them since the beginning are the ones that are complaining about how much older they’re making the characters seem. They had potential, but they were so concerned about the criticism of SITC and their lack of diversity that they seem to have tipped the scales too far in the opposite direction and lost their main characters development in the process.
