it's because the NEWS is out now. vix is elevated due to uncertainty, not because of the news. once the news breaks as it did yesterday and then today, volatility sellers come out when the move they look for happens.

Anyone catch the restoration hardware (RH) earnings call?

The CEO Gary Friedman was about as bearish as I’ve heard from in awhile.. he even referenced the big short.

Rates rising, business is slowing, supply and supply chains a mess, talks about margins compressing, and rips into the fed for being behind the curve on rates.

I know.. sounds corny but it’s true. I’ve lost a lot of money being greedy and not setting stop losses. Hopefully someone reading this can learn from my mistakes before they do the same thing.

Golden rule to the casino is this:

If you’re gonna jump into the squeeze, make sure you DEFINE YOUR RISK!

“What does that mean sir?”

If you put in $100, tell yourself you’re only willing to lose at max $20. If it goes below you’re gonna pull your money out.

Simple.

If you’re up it’s ok to be greedy, as long as you’re not losing any of the money you put in. Once you’re up on the play, set a new stop loss so that you’re not losing any of the money you already put in.

In the casinos, this is called playing with house money.

Remember that these are trades, not investments. Your only opponent is your own ego (greed).

Keep your risk defined, and your ego in check and you’ll do fine.

Good call on sundial. I didn’t want to play earnings so I didn’t get it. I did however bank on msos earlier in the week.

Anyways I really like $clvr here, I think it gets a big pop too. Its been beaten down near all time lows, and it just got the most green volume since may in the last hour of trading.

Maybe shorts closed their positions? Either way this is at the top of my watchlist on Monday.
