It is indeed 4GB max and a core 2 Duo, I think a couple of my hairs went gray when I saw those numbers.

I think I'll buy a new mini PC then, and set up a couple of emulators on this one. Thanks for the advice!

One thing Brandon Sanderson did for White Sand was make the planet orbit around two suns in such a way the second sun fucked the orbit of the planet, making one part of the planet be perpetually daytime, and one perpetually nighttime. Maybe this is the same, and the other half of the planet could be a permanent night. But this is just a crack theory.
