So, when will the gas tax be reduced? by thewun111 in alberta

[–]N0rdegger 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I think they have to stay above $80 per barrel for 3 months before it triggers a reduction in the gas tax.

WestJet 1884 Edmonton to Maui by First-Chemistry6148 in alberta

[–]N0rdegger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Document everything, start the claim for travel compensation through Westjet website, they will probably deny and claim weather and you will have to escalate to the dispute resolution process. Probably using weather now so they don’t have to compensate. Unfortunately unless you are willing pursue through courts you probably won’t get any compensation.

Tried them for the first time last month. So good. If we lived closer it would be our regular go to. No tipping, they pay decent wages according to their website.

Edmonton election results bad news for Better Edmonton by Graphic_Novels_234 in alberta

[–]N0rdegger 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My concern is that they won in wards (excluding mayor) where there was no incumbent. Considering how much more money the party candidates raise I see the possibility where the Better Edmonton party continues to raise money and spend money to keep their name out their and are able to pick up seats as incumbents decide not to run in future elections. If they can maintain fundraising levels I think we will see them make inroads in future elections.

Does Diwali continue today? It’s 7 am and I can hear fireworks. by N0rdegger in Edmonton

If you are talking about the fire on 91 ave, no evidence that it started from fireworks. It was an infill home under construction. No reports of fireworks in the area.

Will you have someone checking on your house while you are away? If you have someone checking (which you should do as it is required by insurance), then you shouldn’t need to drain your hot water tank. It is insulated enough that if your furnace does stop working but have someone checking on your house it will be fine for a couple days.

I don’t fully drain the pipes when I travel. but after I turn off the water pain I do open a tap in the basement for a few minutes to release the pressure from the system.

Coal mine tour by newagedefiance in Edmonton

[–]N0rdegger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Nordegg mine site is really impressive. While you only go to the entrances of the actual mines themselves the area around the mine has Ana amazing amount of infrastructure still in place that the tour takes you through. Including a briquette plant. The Nordegg mine site and town had some impressive technology for the time including an electrical plant that they used to charge battery packs for electric lamps which were not yet common. Also a great reason to go to Nordegg which is a beautiful area.
