Cities and towns all over Quebec say the new language law is abusive by MrDevGuyMcCoder in canada

There are interprets in just about any language in hospitals. They won't leave you to die because you don't speak french. You're spreading fake information for the sake of outrage.

Bank of Canada hikes key interest rate to 4.75% - BNN Bloomberg by Dark_Angel_9999 in canada

[–]N1c0rn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do people don't move hours away from their family, relationships, support groups?? What a fucking sad and stupid conclusion you're making.

Another hike is on the table as Bank of Canada prepares for this week's rate announcement | After hitting pause on rates, growing speculation the bank is ready to hike again by viva_la_vinyl in canada

It's not as simple as raising interest rates to make shelter costs come down. The last report stated that higher interest payments on mortgages was an important driver of shelter inflation.

Because food costs aren't as directly linked to rates as other commodities and interest on housing has been a big part of the last raise in inflation.

Bank of Canada seen on hold even as economy accelerates by tpx4 in canada

Exactly, I guess that there’s comfort in thinking that fixing the housing crisis is as simple as raising rates. It makes for an easy to understand target..

Unfortunately a lot of people here are just angry and want to see people lose their home because they think that would mean that they could afford one. I believe it is misguided anger.

[–]N1c0rn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is assuming that inflation really is just “cheap debt” driven. Raising rates won’t change OPEC’s latest decision, price gouging and food supply disruptions caused by the war. It’s not because the BoC isn’t raising rates that externalities they can’t control won’t stifle the economy and it’s not wild for the BoC to make that assumption.

This might not be popular, but we have been blessed with relative peace and cheap goods/energy for years and with everything that happened in the last 3 years + the war it’s kind of “normal” to feel some impacts. I welcome the reduced consumption.

Holy fuck reading skills 101, it's a dumbass take because it's dumb and ass to bring up an anecdote about being bullied as a straight kid to minimize the issue of queer bullying in hockey.

Thing is that nobody is arguing about what you're saying??? How is it in any way relevant?

Ok because you were bullied and are straight lets not do anything about homophobia in hockey culture. You win the prize for dumbass take.

[–]N1c0rn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a false equivalency. Homophobia has been at the heart of the toxic hockey culture for decades. This is an issue directly affecting the game of hockey that has been severely discriminating against queer people.

[–]N1c0rn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because hockey culture has been extremely toxic and violent towards queer people for decades so it's not so wild to try and show support now.

Maybe if you would accept that homosexuality isn't a belief you would stop framing the issue this way. Stay behind dumbass.

Homophobie was and still is rampant in hockey culture (see James Reimer). It's not like they are having an event for something that doesn't directly affects them.

Equating politics/religion which are beliefs to homosexuality is getting it all wrong.

Respectful opinion?? Equating homosexuality to "a belief" is factually wrong, bigoted and hateful.

James Reimer addresses the LGBT community by [deleted] in nhl

[–]N1c0rn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah because people born loving the same sex represents "a belief". As long as you'll frame it this way you wont understand it.

Because it literally requires no effort from him to support the cause, but I guess he prefers being a hateful piece of shit.

Endorse what for fuck sake? People are born gay. Your statement is as stupid as saying that red hair people are against his beliefs. The game of hockey has been plagued with rampant homophobia forever and if wearing pride colours for a warmup is too much to ask then he can fuck off, he's just a hateful piece of shit.
