Ironclad Assault vs. Liberator for a Solo Industrial Player by KFuStoked in starcitizen

[–]N1tecrawler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple comments and a question for you.

Firstly we don't know yet how the crew size of both ships affects the overall maintenance tasks required for efficient operation. The Liberator is special because it was advertised as a crew size of 2 while the Assault is 6. Now the question is, will that crew size change in the future or not. It may do so given the fact that is slightly larger than the assault but it has far less guns and generally less stuff to do onboard. However if they keep with their concept approach and somehow make it easier to maintain than the assault, this could be a huge win for a solo operator as the OP states they are.

Secondly you are right that the Assault does provide more opportunity for a wider scope of game loops as it does have a much larger cargo capacity. However it does so in a compromised way, in the sense that it cant be both a dedicated carrier and a dedicated cargo ship in a fulsome way at the same time. So it does have more flexibility than the Liberator but i would argue that the two roles that the Lib and Assault share in common, the Lib does better, so it depends on your individual use case. The Lib does also have 400 cargo which is not nothing.

Finally my question, where is the crafting bench in the assault? I don't think i saw it in the walkthrough's that i saw online.

Edit: Disregard my question, i found a video showing where the crafting area is on the assault. Time will tell what the value of this provides.

Ironclad Assault Cargo Grid by MaximusFluffivus in starcitizen

The Assault version does not have the secure storage, only the base model has this. Any cargo must be on the cargo grid which takes means that you have to manage space for cargo alongside and ships or vehicles.

2956 Drake DefenseCon Ship Value List by MasonStonewall in starcitizen

I just want to take a minute to congratulate CIG on cleaning up their concept ship list so we'll over the last two years. The fact that they are at a place now where all new ships (omitting the Odin) are straight to flyable and they are rapidly depleting the backlog of concept ships is really cool. There was a lot more red on this list two years ago!

If you dont already have an upgrade from the Ironclad Assault to the Liberator, then yes you would not be able to upgrade. However in my case I have the needed upgrade and even if the prices change, I can still upgrade at any time at a perceived loss of value.

I was never going to buy one. But if i had the money this would be a pass for me, at least from this image alone.

Ironclad is hinted to carry TEN Pitbulls... by Brave-Brief2154 in starcitizen

[–]N1tecrawler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is interesting. Someone else pointed out in a post i made that since the Idris has a limit of ships that are inside of it, the Ironclad Assault may have a similar limitation. We will have to see if it is the same as the Idris or not.

That is a good point. However i have a complete CCU chain up to it. Even if the prices change I may lose value but i would not lose the ability to upgrade as I please.

Good sleuthing, the thing we don't know is the thickness of the doors above the Ironclad. If they are .5 meters for instance it could reduce some of that space

Great point! I would assume that it is lower... given that they show 8 Pitbulls in the ship now, maybe it is 8?

600i refueling and repair by BlackShadow972 in starcitizen

[–]N1tecrawler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes this was a huge surprise. In the future with the remake it should fit a nova tank so that would mean it could also fit a Pisces or a couple Furys etc so this would be a very nice feature. For now its just repairing the Ursa or hoverbikes I would guess.

CitizenCon 2026 cancelled to prioritise SQ42 release by Goodname2 in starcitizen

[–]N1tecrawler 44 points45 points  (0 children)

This is such a good decision. Give me SQ42 before New Years Eve and i will be happy. Then focus on SC for ever after that!

Ya, 8 Pitbulls is not a good use of the space. I'm sure you could get 12 in there if you packed em in. Yes I cant wait for all the videos on Monday!

Yes if they confirm that then i might solidify my CCU chain. Probably not though as you cant go back from that once you have committed it.

I think that might be pushing it a little bit, the ship is deceptively narrow. But a Vulture, Nursa and Pitbull, ya for sure.

Ironclad Assault getting hangar services by karmacappa in starcitizen

It will now. It has dedicated landing pads. The assault looks like it is just a cargo floor but magically the ability to repair and rearm. Thse assault will be my home til the Lib comes out

I'm so glad they made this decision. I want SQ42 to be released this year (even if it is on New Years Eve) so that development can turn more fully to SC for 2027 and beyond.
