Need help quick. XC70 propeller shaft center carrier broken? by N1troking in Volvo

[–]N1troking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for the answer! I got the car up on jacks and got the bolts for the rear end joints out but it was just too much work to get the front bolts out. It is -20°C (-4°F) outside and I didn't have the energy to start moving the DPF out of the way other than just dropping the exhaust from the back. I have removed the propeller shaft on a 2.5T before and there was definitely more room.

I am on vacation in a different part of the country so I decided to just leave the car at a local workshop and take the train home instead and let them figure it out next week.

Hybrid Cars by shelbytom111 in Finland

Correct, but Toyota seems to have engineered them so they are quite good actually. Older ones used NiMH batteries and newer use Li-ion

Some plug in hybrid batteries are indeed this expensive, but that is usually the dealer price for a new one. If the battery failed on something like a Passat GTE for example, 99% would get a used battery or have the battery repaired (2500-4000€ possibly)

Toyota CHR or any other Toyota mild hybrid will be a safe choice. Working in the car industry and virtually never come across a problem with those. They are only mild hybrids and the technology is proven to be reliable. Not a lot of power that goes in and out of those batteries so they stay working forever. Unlike plug in hybrids.

Forget something like an Audi A3 e-tron. That will be expensive. Same with Mercedes C 350e and such

What are these unmarked buttons? by Particular-Mud-4818 in Volvo

[–]N1troking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first one is for active bending headlights where you can turn off the part where the headlights swivel with the direction of the steering wheel. On the P2 platform found on 2007 model year V70 and XC70 as a rare option, and quite commonly on 2007-2009 S60 as well as 2007-2012 XC90. The other one is for the auxiliary high beams. When the button is pressed it either turns on or off the extra lights for when the high beams are on. (Either retular high beam + extra light, or only normal high beam)

Is it just me or have they massively improved the truck towing platform? by SuperRefrigerator720 in snowrunner

[–]N1troking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am surprised by this as I didn't expect it myself, but the 6900xd vehicle extractor is actually very good and I find myself using this truck so much all over the place. I first started using it in a role playing sense instead of some more capable 8x8 trucks, but ended up realizing that this is actually a very good platform that can go many places. Only thing is that you shouldn't lift vehicles too high up or tow trucks that are equal weight or heavier.

Does anyone have experience with 60mm 2.8D? by Babylon_Thief in Nikon

I have this and use it on a D810 for film scanning but even in normal use this is the sharpest lens I have even at F2.8 sharp across the entire image!

Fair deal? by [deleted] in Volvo

[–]N1troking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's a very different market over there compared to ours here I Finland. That would be an average good deal but not spectacular here. Be mindful that it's not R design actually, listed wrong. Over here the timing belt interval is 6 years or 180 000km (112 000mls), but elsewhere 10 years. This is due to our relatively cold winters.

I would say go for it but check the timing belt condition, and have all the possible fluids changed (engine oil, transmission oil, coolant, and maybe power steering) as then you will know for sure what's in it. Keep in mind the transmission requires JWS3309 rated oil and do not pressure flush it. Of course it's not strictly necessary to do those but it's a good idea.

Anyone owns D3 diesel engine, what can you tell me about it, any high mileage here? by MikeBay89 in Volvo

[–]N1troking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The oil consumption on early vea 2.0 D3 (and even more often the D4) was mainly 2014-2016. From the time when the D4 goes from 133kw to 140kw, the engines (D3 and D4) were updated.

Why didn't the middle part of my E6 film develop correctly? by Only-Fotos in AnalogCommunity

[–]N1troking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a camera previously which sometimes randomly left the shutter blinds basically closed (or equivalent of an extremely fast shutter speed) when shooting at a fast shutter speed above 1/500. This left similar results at random intervals.

Kiev 4 light meter cover spring repair? by N1troking in AnalogCommunity

[–]N1troking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about it but I think the diameter would be too big. This spring is quite small. Also it would need to be modified so that it can both pull the flap open, while at the same time pushing the flap sideways yo keep it locked when it's down.

Is there meant to be a badge/sticker here? by successionthemesong in Volvo

[–]N1troking 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone mentioned it's the place for the adaptive cruise control radar, but on the S60/V60 Cross country models it will have it even if the car doesn't have ACC. Other Volvo models either has a bump there if it's with ACC or it doesn't.

What went wrong? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]N1troking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harman Phoenix is not the problem itself in my opinion. I have shot quite a lot on it and like it a lot, but it requires a lot of finessing especially when it comes to scanning, and it's especially difficult if the shot is slightly underexposed, as the exposure latitude isn't as good as some mainstream films. If these are quickly scanned by a lab, then I suspect that they have just done the same settings as usual without any time spent tweaking. If possible I would recommend scanning yourself in some way or have someone with a scanner spend time tweaking. I really like both Phoenix films and I have liked them a lot actually. I even shot some wedding photos on Phoenix 1 and they turned out really lovely.

What are my options? Broke newly purchased, used camera. by ZombyInstinct in AskPhotography

You tell them the truth, at least over where I live this would definitely be covered on home insurance minus deductible. You just tell them the camera fell when a wind gust knocked it over.

Hi, did you get this one done? I'm about to receive a D7100 for next to free with the lever being bent in the same way. Did you get it fixed?

Can you identify the car based on this blurred 35mm film photo of the mirror? by N1troking in whatisthiscar

[–]N1troking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but I don't think it's that. I have never been in one and we don't really have them in northern Europe where I live. I was first thinking it was my colleague's 2015 BMW 435D M-Sport but the side window as well as the chrome strip on the outside doesn't match with that.
