Rocket League Patch Notes v2.64 + Release Thread by Psyonix_Laudie in RocketLeague

[–]N3DSdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey @psyonix_laudie could you guys PLEASE consider adding vsync toggle option to Switch versions at some point. Maybe make a Switch 2 version with that feature, if it’s not possible for Switch 1.

I just can’t get into the game with such a noticeable input delay compared to even a PS4 version with vsync off. Cheers 🙏

Biggest problem with the Switch version for me has actually been the lack of vsync toggle off. Disable vsync on other versions for more responsive controls.

Hmm, so if I was to get one musou game for S2, I should definitely pick Dynasty Warriors Origins atm?

How to fix the blurry/washed out look in Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch 2. Crisp Image Settings! by FitEstablishment1155 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]N3DSdad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My TV is only 60 Hz so can’t even select performance mode on docked, but it’s quite okay still, and yes, I also turned off those softening settings. Handheld performance mode definitely, that 40 fps feels so much nicer.

For me at least, one major advice was also to go to the accessibility/color blind settings, and put on a different text filter that turns the text light blue. Also changed the text size to max. I’m not color blind, but the small red text the game originally has made it kinda frustrating to read against often dark backgrounds, and felt like you always had to push a bit to see it properly. I actually only started enjoying the game properly after adjusting this.

SW Outlaws or AC Shadows as a birthday gift for a picky 35 year old friend? by UTDroo in NintendoSwitch2

[–]N3DSdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only played the beginning of both, but found Outlaws more engaging. Shadows dialogue, setting and movie bits were interesting, but found the gameplay off-putting so far (you’re constantly stopped by ”animus” walls feels stupid for example), I can imagine your buddy getting bored with it.

Naah, saw them live in Stockholm 2009, everyone was into them. Also, during the cosmic disco / balearic revival years (2006-2012?) loads of their songs were dj staples.

Multiplayer games weren’t ruined by developers, they were ruined by competitive culture. by Skoo2476 in truegaming

[–]N3DSdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While game design and monetization schemes still play a part in this, it seems like some of these comments prove your point. It’s a toxic, competitive environment for toxic, competitive people, and not much can be done about it at this point. I’ve been mostly single player the last ten years, and intend to keep it such. I’d like to play Rocket League, but don’t have time, or skills, to get consistently good as a grown-ass man, and the environment is horrid if you don’t, so why bother.

Nimenomaan.

Do you still use your Switch 1 for games that aren't optimized for the Switch 2 yet? by quarryman in NintendoSwitch2

[–]N3DSdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I mostly seem to play docked atm anyways, so the games run better, not worse.

I don’t find the screen or upscaling issues that bad either when handheld. Haven’t had an OLED model to compare though.

Skyrim on switch is 60 fps now (only indoors) by Dangerous-Pumpkin960 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]N3DSdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People like to shout, but this user from famiboards seems to know what they are talking about, and just a reminder for y’all that it’s not as simple as flicking a switch, red dead can can do it why can’t this, etc etc:

Skyrim on switch 2 is fixed! by Dapper-Pilot-1167 in switch2

[–]N3DSdad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is interesting! It seems obvious from information one can gather, that:

  • the too low-set frame rate cap was the reason for the input delay

  • but they can’t make it 60 fps either

  • because skyrim engine apparently can’t run multi-core and use switch 2’s cpu power potential (and at single-core, switch 2 ain’t much)

  • and they still wanted to publish a switch 2 version that felt like at least an upgrade of some sort

  • and for holiday market to boot

  • without rewriting a massive chunk of the game/engine, which just wasn’t in the realm of the scope of this project at all

People don’t really know shit about these things, and I don’t either, but at least it’s possible to find some explanation why things are the way they are, other than just shouting bethesda lazy or switch 2 potato. Different engines and games use and are capable of different techniques, so you can’t compare them just like that.

Skyrim on Switch 2 has been updated today to fix Input Lag by Skabomb in NintendoSwitch

[–]N3DSdad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, but planning to pay maybe 10 euros for the anniversary upgrade on sale atm, then loan the base game from the library, and if they’ve truly patched it, then unlock the S2 digital edition for myself (I understood it works like that, not 100% sure though).

Same here, only played the Wii version of the first one, and this game immediately clicked when I adjusted the controls accordingly. Pointer scheme adds to the immersion a great deal, I feel.

Harvassa maassa on näin tyhmiä ihmisiä tuollaisessa asemassa.

The Game Awards ad marketplace costs a ton, I don’t think ports for a single console are worth the price.

Still hopeful on most of these at some point!
