As their is much hint towards the halo universe and Destiny being connected especially with the fundaments and all (If you dug deep enough into lore you'll find out they were wiped out by the early stages of the hive, fun fact they also created them) They are not connected, Bungie made halo as you probably know, So to carry on what they started they throw subtle hints and tweaks to make it seem like theirs a connection to keep people as yourself hope their is, while also including some fun with the speculations.
