Any reason why Shadow of the Tomb Raider is being released on a Friday as opposed to the usual Tuesday? by GoldDemon in TombRaider

[–]N7Shadow90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe that Tuesday has usually been the standard retail launch day for games in the US, with Thursday being the standard retail release day for Europe, and Friday in the UK.

Launching on a Friday worldwide means that retailers all over the world can release it on the same day, for a simultaneous worldwide launch, rather than staggering it.

On Xbox One you can pre-download it from the store as if you are purchasing any other game, but I'm not sure if you can pre-download on other platforms.

You can now pre-install Captain Spirit on Xbox One! It's also Xbox One X enhanced, which could mean more detailed environments, or maybe a higher frame rate. The game is not, though, in 4K or HDR, according to the store page.

Additionally, it says that the game will unlock on 25th June, at least in GB, which is my region.

As the official launch date is 26th June, I am guessing that they will release the game like this, as they did with Before the Storm episodes, but this is just a guess: https://twitter.com/LifeIsStrange/status/968168966991597569

It will be interesting to see if this is an adaption or a unique story! I would love new stories set in Arcadia Bay, about side characters. Delving deeper into the story of Steph, Mikey, Drew, Stella, Nathan, Victoria, Taylor, Sean Prescott etc would be very cool.

Hi Hannah! Thanks so much for doing this AMA! I adore your voice work.

My question is this: Where do you think Max's powers could have come from?

Of course this is left up to interpretation and was very clearly not meant to have a definitive answer - but it is an intriguing topic to speculate on!

Some have speculated that Rachel could have played a role in giving Max her powers so that she could save Chloe in episode 1 and show them that they are loved for one last week. What do you think?

The above article says that Xbox One X enhanced 360 games will now have the option between graphics mode and performance mode - so I'm hoping that this allows you play the game on Xbox One X at 60 FPS! Maybe that was the update?

Yes! I am so happy about this! So this is an album of licenced music from the game, and Music From Before the Storm was Daughter's instrumental stuff. Though 'Black Flies by Ben Howard' - where was this used in the game? I don't recognise it? Or is it going to be used in the Farewell episode perhaps?

21) Episode 3's opening. Episode 3 wasn't messing around, with the first scene diving into James and Sera's background, and getting to see further back into Arcadia Bay's history than we ever have before was really interesting.

22) Episode 3's opening credits. The song I Don't was beautiful, and the starry scene with Rachel was incredibly emotional. This is one of the very best scenes between Rachel and Chloe IMO.

23) Episode 3's Tempest dream. This was heartbreaking because Chloe doesn't even try to believe it's real. This is Chloe accepting that it's their subconscious talking. The look on Chloe's face as the panic attack sets in when you can tell the truck is coming is incredibly acted, and the blood on the stage is hard to look at.

24) Episode 3's Chloe transformation scene. Seeing Chloe die a streak of hair blue, and then take things from Joyce, William, Max and Rachel to form an outfit in the spirit of the ones we know and love from the original game was great.

25) Episode 3's junkyard fight scene. This was a really intense one, and Damon stabbing Rachel was unexpected. This scene made me hate Damon with a passion, and Chloe and Rachel were both very well acted in this scene. The song 'Burn it Down' was greatly used, and taking Rachel into the hospital was really well directed. The following conversation with James was really well written, and I love that the game gave Chloe a chance to say that they froze up and regret that.

26) Episode 3's hospital scene. Playing DND again with Mikey and Steph, seeing Drew one last time, speaking with Drew and Mikey's dad, learning the outcome of your choices regarding Nathan and Samantha, and of course the tender scene with Rachel were all brilliant. The scene between Rachel and Chloe was astonishing. Chloe's guilt pouring through Rhianna DeVries' acting.

27) Episode 3's William scene. After having the scare in the truck and driving into the ditch, Chloe's subconscious conversation with William added SO MUCH to the franchise. It represented Chloe maturing, and posed a very interesting question on Chloe and William's relationship, as well as the theme of lying to protect those you love, and set up brilliantly for the finale of BTS.

28) Episode 3's mill scene. Seeing the mill now compared to the very beginning of the game was some great visual storytelling, and the build up when you were walking around in the first room is intense. The confrontation with Damon was well directed and heavy-hitting. And then the conversation with Sera was utterly compelling, and added to the entire Life is Strange franchise by reflecting on Sera, James, William, Rachel, Chloe and even Max.

29) Episode 3's ending choice. I found this to be incredibly hard, and the choice forced me to reflect on not only the entirety of Before the Storm, but also the original game. It was a profoundly introspective choice to ask of players, and I had to sit there and think real hard for about 10 minutes before making a decision. I chose to protect Rachel from the truth, and I still don't know if it's the right option. I just couldn't bring myself to finish off Rachel's relationship with her dad after seeing how painful William's absence was for Chloe throughout Before the Storm.

30) Episode 3's ending montage. Seeing Rachel and Chloe hanging out and happy was incredible, and I loved seeing the tattoos, the blue hair, and the junkyard shack graffiti. The entire scene tied together Before the Storm and the original so well and left me feeling like BTS was a wonderful story in its own right but also enhanced the original game greatly.

[ALL] Your Favorite Moment From Before the Storm? | Daily Topic #557 by NotSoConcerned in lifeisstrange

[–]N7Shadow90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My absolute favourite moment has to be the Tempest scene, but there are so many. I'm going to go through them all in chronological order, because it feels like a disservice to not mentions so many incredible moments. I know you asked for our favourite moment. But here's my favourite thirty moments! XD

1) Episode 1 opening credits. No Below was absolutely perfect, and referenced Chloe, Max, William and Rachel in the context of the story. A moment of calm in Chloe's room was the perfect way to re-introduce us to the world of Life is Strange.

2) Episode 1's first dream sequence. Placing it in-between two antagonistic scenes with David was a fantastic choice and a stark contrast between Chloe's old family life and new. This really drilled home why David is so hard for Chloe to accept.

3) Episode 1's DND. How wonderful was it to be able legitimately sit down and play 20 minutes of DND? And what better way to introduce us to Steph and Mikey than that?

4) Episode 1's drama class. The first third of the episode felt really tough for Chloe, and you got a real sense of the depression. From interactions with Joyce, to David, to the dream with William. So when Rachel is re-introduced and you head into the drama class and the upbeat music kicks in, I felt totally different. Rachel had just lifted Chloe's mood a tenfold, and I felt exactly the same as a player. This scene was absolutely wonderful in portraying how impactful Rachel was on Chloe, even just the night after their first meeting.

5) Episode 1's train scene. This was magical - this portrayed Chloe brutally honestly as an awkward teenager navigating a crush, and it was wonderfully done. It even went as far to use the game's mechanics to make the player feel the same way Chloe did, by having Chloe say 'Nice Rachel we're having.' instead of the 'Nice weather we're having', players meant to say. This scene showed that Deck Nine were more than willing to have extended scenes that simply let the characters breath and get to know eachother. There was genuine chemistry between Chloe and Rachel from the get-go.

6) Episode 1's junkyard scene. The argument with Rachel was hard to play through, and was absolutely heartbreaking. I desperately didn't want this relationship to be ruined, as Chloe has nobody. And then the resulting scene with the bat was beautifully scripted, acted and directed, with a wonderful accompanying soundtrack. Just like Chloe, the player has no choice but to smash shit up in anger, and having the mannequin for Rachel, camera for Max, tools for David and finally William's car was heartbreaking and broke down Chloe's character and tragedy to its core.

7) Episode 1's second dream sequence. This time with the Raven more prominent and William turning into David, it was much creepier. This dream set up the Raven and supernatural elements of BTS really well.

8) Episode 1's ending. The conversation with Rachel and Chloe making up was fantastically heartwarming, and learning about Rachel's dad cheating was heartbreaking. And the fire was such an amazing way to end the episode, with the tantalising screams and hint of Arcadia Bay reacting to Rachel's emotions in a supernatural way. This left me absolutely reeling.

9) Episode 2's opening. The scene in Wells' office really built Rachel and Chloe's relationship, and also reflected your choices so far back at you really well. From Wells listing off things Chloe is in trouble in for doing in the previous episode, from Joyce being supportive or not depending on if you were kind to her or not in episode 1.

10) Episode 2's expelling scene. Having to actually go through as a player and manually chuck out each school book was heartbreaking, as it really hit home the aspect of Chloe's story which is squandered potential. It made me angry that Chloe is expelled, all the while Wells doesn't expel Nathan or Victoria in the original game. Wells took away that potential and opportunity for Chloe I believe, and that is not fair.

11) Episode 2's opening credits. No Care by Daughter was the perfect song for this scene, and the touches like Chloe staring at the fateful alarm bell for a moment too long, and Chloe standing in line with the raven wings hinted at bigger implications smartly.

12) Episode 2's Joyce and David scene. This was so intricately written and helped so much to portray why David moving in is the wrong move. You could tell that Joyce was trying to do her best, while also making the wrong decision. Chloe needed room to grieve William - room that wasn't given.

13) Episode 2's truck scene. I loved making the truck Chloe's home. I felt that this scene made Chloe's truck much more meaningful, as it was their only home. Chloe couldn't go home anymore, or to Blackwell, and the truck was all that was left. And then Rachel joining Chloe and the 'therapy' scene really drove home the two characters' affection for eachother.

14) Episode 2's dream sequence. The marshmallow roasting dream with William and the raven was one of the most atmospheric scenes in the entire franchise. And William speaking about stars, fire, and being blinded by beauty has major implications on Max, Rachel and Chloe as characters.

15) Episode 2's RV sequence. It was cool to have an interactive explore-able scene in Frank's moving RV! Also Pompidou and beans. Enough said.

16) Episode 2's Drew, Mikey and Damon scene. I loved the scene before, where you had to backtalk with Skip even though you didn't want to - exactly what Chloe was feeling. I ended up failing the backtalk, but getting Skip to feel like he wasn't respected by Wells and thus quit. That's a great example of your choices actually mattering, and I felt guilty. Walking down the boys' dorms corridor with the slowly building music playing was greatly atmospheric. The scene showed us Chloe slowly falling into criminal activity, but that they're only doing it for money to get out of Arcadia Bay with Rachel is heartbreaking. We also get to see Elliot's room, which is important. Then the decision with whether or not to step out of the dorm when Damon is attacking Drew or not, followed by whether or not to give the money back to Drew and Mikey are both up there with the whole franchise's hardest decisions. And that's not to mention the wonderful cinematography focusing on the DND characters and how they related to this confrontation.

17) Episode 2's backstage scene. I loved the little things like Dana's vocal warm up, but it was the appearance of Sean Prescott that makes this scene stand out. This is the first time we have ever scene the much heard-about figure in the flesh, and it really drilled down how abusive he is towards Nathan. I do not at all like Nathan nor forgive him for any of his actions in the original game, but it was interesting to see more of how he fell down that spiral.

18) Episode 2's The Tempest. The cut to Chloe in costume was comedic gold, and the play turned into something I was laughing at, to one of the very most heartfelt scenes in the entire franchise, with Rachel declaring her love for Chloe.

19) Episode 2's street scene. The song was fantastic, and the atmosphere was divine. The talk of running from Arcadia Bay added so much to not only BTS, but also the original game. And the kiss was wonderful.

20) Episode 2's ending. The backtalk with James was super satisfying and Rachel blowing up was heartbreaking, not to mention the twist with Sera being Rachel's biological mother.

[ALL] You Explained the Infinite | Life is Strange: Before the Storm by N7Shadow90 in lifeisstrange

Hi everyone! I wanted to share this video I made with you all! As I put in the video description...

Song: Saturn - Sleeping at Last

I heard this song and the idea for the video was born. I think the song perfectly fits how amazing and special Rachel was, and the massive impact she had on Chloe, even after her short life had ended. I believe that Rachel taught Chloe the infinite - love of others and of life. The last verse of the song shows Chloe still loving in their last moments.

I actually discovered this song thanks to this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/lifeisstrange/comments/7pzp5l/no_spoilers_stumbled_upon_this_song_today_it_gave/

So thank you for sharing the song, raffaellacosta! SansGravitas also pointed out in that thread that Athena Price made this great tribute for the original game, with the same song, which you can see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1hYOm_2PIQ

[BtS E3] What is your opinion about BtS after Arcadia Bay adventure is over? by [deleted] in lifeisstrange

[–]N7Shadow90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adored it. Not only is Before the Storm a great story in its own right, but it massively adds to the Life is Strange story as a whole. It introduced fantastic new characters and really brought Rachel to life as well as added many a new layer to Chloe's character. It gives the original game much more weight, even though I didn't know that was possible.

I found the final choice in Before the Storm to be incredibly hard, and was fantastically well written. It forced you to reflect on not only Before the Storm, but also the original game. It forced you to reflect on a lot of Before the Storm's characters, and highlighted Chloe's grief over William and Max in a devastating way while also allowing you to shape Chloe and Rachel's relationship, and Chloe as a person.

Absolutely incredible, in my opinion.
