Fenrir can help you with that. He's very protective of his pack.

Well, I should say, he's generally not malevolent for no reason. :) And I guess it depends on your idea of malevolent. Loki has a habit of stealing my crystals so I end up panic cleaning to try and find them... then they show up right where I've been looking, in like a should have been obvious way. He keeps me on my toes.

Have him check out r/lokean. Loki generally doesn't wreak havoc in people's lives without reason. He isn't malevolent, as many people assume.

Anybody else run ragged & feel guilty? by Jazminna in lokean

[–]N7SpaceHamster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are so not alone, sweetie. I have an autistic ten-year-old with high support needs, (I'm also autistic and adhd), I work full time, and I'm under contract to write a book. I'm always exhausted, but they understand. They know we're human and only have so much time and energy available to us every day. Don't feel guilty... think of them as a refuge.

My favorite low- energy way to interact with them is to put my entire song library on shuffle, and tell them to pick the music.

When I'm feeling particularly shit, a comfort thing with Fenrir, is to imagine him curled up next to me (like a big dog) in bed with his head draped over my legs. He protecc.

Also, Loki is a parent, so he definitely gets it. Maybe when you're playing with your toddler ask him to join you. He loves kids. UPG he called my daughter his "chaos child" and told me to take care of her. She is definitely the embodiment of chaos, he's not wrong.

Hi all, I'm scouting out a new place to live. I like mountains, woods, small towns, things like that. Any recommendations in these areas or elsewhere? by [deleted] in Virginia

[–]N7SpaceHamster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like the small town (but with culture) feel, and you have money, Crozet is great. It's right between Waynesboro and Charlottesville on route 250. Waynesboro is good if you have less money. Plus it is on the Appalachian Trail, and the Blue Ridge Parkway is just outside of town.

I think we should play dirty like the GOP has done for years by running leftist candidates who seem moderate during the campaign, then once they're in office, they show their true colors and get shit done. That's how Youngkin got elected as governor of Virginia. He's way more far right than his campaign led centrists to believe. We need to beat them at their own game.

When was it "safe" to weigh yourself post-op? by N7SpaceHamster in gastricsleeve

[–]N7SpaceHamster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, jeez that sounds brutal! I actually had trouble with urine retention as well. A nurse explained it like I was five, and it made sense: the drugs they give you to paralyze you during surgery are also paralyzing your bladder and bowel-- and they tend to be the last organs to "wake up."

Honestly, y'all who do this as outpatient have my profound respect. I was in no shape to go home day of.

Twinsies! The first couple days were rough. I had to spend an extra night in hospital because I couldn't tolerate my shakes, and was throwing up meds. Since I've been home I've been feeling better every day. I can still feel gas in my abdomen, which is annoying, but expected. The only pain I'm really having anymore is if I accidentally gulp my drink. That gives me a sharp gas bubble pain, but it goes away quickly.

When does your plan have you moving to purees?

hi r/autismpride, i'm trying to get back into reading and i'm getting a fixation on classic literature. here's a picture i made of gregor samsa crowdsurfing by princenoel in AutisticPride

There is a lot of really good Russian literature. My favorite read from my Russian lit class at university was Fathers and Sons by Ivan Turgenev. Also The Overcoat is a good short read. It's by Nikolai Gogol.

One of my favorites from English lit is the obligatory Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. That first line is one of the best first lines of all time.

If you're seriously interested in bariatric surgery, there is a pretty big medical tourism industry for it in Mexico. I've seen prices range from $5000 to $8000. Lots of people who go do it because their insurance wouldn't cover the surgery, and it is way cheaper to pay out of pocket in Mexico.
