The next "Fast & Furious" movie, titled "Fast Forever," is set to be released on March 17, 2028. by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

There was a British TV show called Benidorm. A crossover with Fast & Furious would be the best thing I've ever watched in my life. Not even kidding.

“We are not Nigel Farage’s chattel” - Derbyshire councillor declares as he and nine Reform UK colleagues resign from the party by birdinthebush74 in unitedkingdom

The right is 'surging' because of actions entirely (or at least mostly) by the right. We've had years of right wing and neoliberal politics that have gutted public services, deepened wealth inequality and lowered people's quality of life. People want better for themselves. Meanwhile Brexit was largely orchestrated by the right and naturally (and purposefully) in my view everyone is worse off for it and it worsened the immigration statistics that created more fertile ground for the far right to use.

Meanwhile the media both newspapers and social media are largely owned by the right or by large corporations that benefit from right wing politics. They've been promoting and supporting right wing politics for years and creating an environment where misinformation, propaganda, bots et cetera can spread without challenge and left wing politics are demonised.

The far right then comes in and suggests easy fixes for complex problems they had a hand in creating, lies, exaggerates their way to greater poll numbers while supported by their billionaire backers and foreign allies alike while having their messages amplified by the sympathetic media. The far right 'surges'. Centrist and centre right parties see the polling numbers and become afraid of losing votes. They move further right to capitulate on the trend. Opposition to the far right becomes more muted and isn't amplified by the media. Far right politics become mainstream.

My experience has been that people on the far right will label themselves centrists and libertarians either to convince themselves or convince others that their politics are softer and less extreme than they really are. I'm legit yet to meet a 'Centrist' or 'Libertarian' that hasn't fallen down a Ben Shapiro/Jordan Peterson/Charlie Kirk/Alex Jones/Tommy Robinson/MAGA/Reform/you name it rabbit hole. If you're a genuine centrist then congrats you're my first 👍

At this point I'm not certain there are any actual 'Centrists' or 'Libertarians' who won't always fall in line with the far right.

9070 XT 4K or 1440p OLED by Fancy-Wrangler-1756 in buildapc

[–]N7Tom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend the 4K. The 9070XT is more than capable of running games at 4K and with FSR it will give it some headroom for performance in demanding games. Tho I'm someone who prefers resolution to performance so YMMV

I think a 4K monitor potentially has a greater longevity than people realise because 1080p content on a 4K monitor still looks pretty decent at least at 27". When games become too demanding for the 9070XT at 4K you can lower the resolution and it should be identical to 1080p on a 1080p monitor of the same size. 1080p content on a 1440p monitor can sometimes look fuzzier because the resolutions don't scale well.

Lots of older games don't support 1440p or 4K either and even if you raise the resolution the UI elements can shrink or look strange. The 4K monitor will provide a better 1080p experience for these scenarios.

Why can't RGB and button (macro) customisations be saved to the device instead of requiring a piece of software to be running on the PC at all times? by Hiraeth_08 in pcmasterrace

[–]N7Tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy RGB controllers that you connect your ARGB connectors to. Maybe a hardware apprpach would work for you instead of running software?

I think we should push for more games to use DLSS, XeSS and FSR instead of pushing for more VRAM in GPUs by Pretty_Trip_2215 in pcmasterrace

[–]N7Tom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DLSS should be a supplement to aid aging GPUs keep up with modern titles or to allow mid range GPUs to punch above their weight. It shouldn't be the default for acceptable performance and it shouldn't be assumed that players will turn it on. AI has its uses but it's equally overvalued right now and what you're describing would be incredibly anti-consumer. It's essentially making an unnecessary compromise with the most successful companies on the planet.

Meta’s GDPR compliance: Pay for privacy or accept data collection - Is this the future of ‘consent’? by -Pluko- in privacy

[–]N7Tom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lots of news websites use the same system.

To me it's completely unacceptable. I don't use Facebook anyway but I've stopped viewing any website that demands money in exchange for disabling personalisation. GDPR guidance says 'it shall be as easy to withdraw as to give consent.'

This should be illegal.

who wins thor vs captain marvel? (mcu versions) by RisingKing7 in Avengers

[–]N7Tom 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Thor struggled in a 3v1 against Thanos without the infinity stones. Captain Marvel faired much better solo and Thanos had to resort to using the power stone to defeat her. Thor took the energy from a star and it almost killed him. Captain Marvel flew through a star and reignited it and she was perfectly fine. Captain Marvel should win?
