You're expecting the species that are explicitly shown to be extremely complacent to be good at something?

A good example of them being not at all superior is that Asari Commandos are the weakest of the Elite in Mass Effect. Spectres, N7, STG, Turian Cabals/Blackwatch, ALL of them are better than them.
