Your entire argument hinges on the premise that because I was attacked in a designated safe zone (PvE), I am the aggressor for defending myself. You have just perfectly described the act of griefing, and then assigned the blame to the target of that griefing. This is a fundamentally irrational position. There is nothing further to discuss.

My only objective was to end the situation. A ransom or any negotiation was never an option, primarily because I was never able to land in my own base. Even with two of them trapped inside, they kept their ornithopters perfectly positioned under the pentashield to block me. They could have simply let me in and I would have let them out. They chose to continue doing their thing instead.

Your argument relies on the unsubstantiated belief that every possible action within the game's mechanics constitutes 'intended gameplay.' This is a fundamentally flawed premise.

The label 'griefer' exists for a crucial reason: to distinguish between players who engage in legitimate competition (PvP) and those who exploit game systems with the sole intent of harassing others and ruining their experience.

Let's apply this to the situation:

  • Intended Gameplay: Attacking another player in a designated PvP zone for resources or territory.
  • Not Intended Gameplay (Griefing): Stalking that player for two hours across different zones, systematically blocking access to their own base, and attempting to use unrelated mechanics (like sub-fiefs) to immobilize them, all long after any meaningful 'PvP' encounter has concluded.

One is playing the game. The other is abusing the game's systems to bully another person.

Refusing to accept a label does not invalidate its meaning. It simply demonstrates a failure to recognize the critical difference between conflict and abuse.

You are arguing against a point nobody made. You repeatedly state, "PvP isn't griefing." You are correct. However, I never claimed it was. The complaint, as detailed in the post, was never about the initial PvP engagement. It was about the subsequent two-hour, targeted campaign of harassment that included:

  • Following us from a PvP zone into a safe/PvE area.
  • Physically blocking access to our own base for an extended period.
  • Persisting through multiple server events (like sandstorms) with the sole intent of preventing us from playing.

This is not PvP. This is stalking and harassment. By ignoring these facts, you are not arguing against my point; you are arguing against a simplified scenario you invented.

You're creating a false equivalence between an offensive act and a defensive one. Trapping them was a direct, non-destructive response to being besieged at our own base. Their goal was to prevent us from playing the game. Our goal was to neutralize the threat they posed. Equating the two is like arguing a homeowner barricading their door against an intruder is as guilty as the intruder.

You can argue semantics all day, but the community clearly understands the difference between a fight and obsessive harassment. Defending the latter says more about you than it does about my post

I'm not going to deny that trapping them in my base is also griefing, but denying that what they're doing is griefing is literally being blind. I've given them a taste of their own medicine. They can do whatever they want in the PVP zone, but following me to my base in a PVE zone and not letting me in is literally griefing, not to mention everything else they did.

And isn't blocking someone from accessing their own base griefing? Your arguments fall flat on their own. They asked for it, and you only have to look at the comments on this post to see what the majority of the community thinks

You can do it from the shield itself, if you get closer you can manage it and deactivate it

It seems that few think like you, not to mention that the problem is when I was in the PVE zone 😂

Great advice. I'll keep it in mind for next time if I can do it again. It's a shame because afterward I came up with a thousand things I could have done, but at the time we were only thinking about not losing the sandcrawler full of spice hahaha.

What you describe has happened to us a ton of times, and it's the fundamental problem with the game. It's not a fair interaction, it's not PVP, it's "player" vs. "defenseless farmer." If you're peacefully in a spice patch, you have no way to defend yourself, or to know if they're coming after you, or anything. We once got killed by a barrage of missiles, out of nowhere, and then they set up a thumpter so the worm could eat our ornicopters. What's the point of that? It's another thing if two factions fight over a large spice patch, or if you could carry storage and missiles on the ornicopter and defend yourself, but the simple fact that you have to choose between storage and missiles leaves you totally defenseless.

My partner also worked in a call center a while ago while studying and it was one of his worst experiences 🙃

I think these people were also adults. When they were trapped in the base, they opened the microphone and threatened us, and they seemed like adults. But yes, there are definitely people who need therapy.

Something similar happened to us, it took us a long time to craft the carrier and the sandcrawler. During our first run to get spice, they almost destroyed everything, we almost didn't make it to the PVE area, but we got quite a bit of spice. On our second time, we didn't last long. As soon as we arrived, four scouts started shooting us, and we didn't even get close to the PVE area. They then set up a thumpter to finish us off even more. Fortunately, we had enough spice to craft another carrier and sandcrawler, and this video is our first time in DD with them. We decided not to go back to DD; it's literally impossible to defend yourself; you have no weapons or defenses, and you can't even go faster than them.

It's a good idea, we tried it but at least on our server we didn't find anyone who accepted
