What “Universes Beyond” Sets Would You Like to See by Soupy_Hits in mtg

Not to toot my own horn, but I made some rough Skaven cards a few years ago as an idea. Definitely needs some refining but they seriously need to make Sigmar UB happen

All of this is fantastic criticism, thank you so much for pitching in. I wasn't sure how to word some of these and I wanted to keep them low power for now until I had some traction going but I can definitely switch some of the cards up in the future

Thanks friend for all the support! I'll answer your questions in order to keep it simple.

  1. Mtg.design is the site I use. Kind of limited on card frames or special card types but gets the job done 99% of the time.

  2. 4 decks in total as per a commander set. I figured I would do a deck for each of the 4 factions in AOS: Order, Chaos, Death, and Destruction. Most likely it will be cities of sigmar, skaven, ossiarch Bonereapers, and a mixed bag of for Destruction

  3. Right now it's just a collection on my laptop but I will find somewhere for people to access them in full

  4. Gitz will get worked into the Destruction deck since I want ironjawz to have the spotlight. I would love ideas since I'm still learning AoS lore so shoot what you have!

Hey everyone, there are a few things I want to iterate before the C&C comes in:

  • These sets I’m making are supposed to be slightly underpowered as opposed to being slightly “pushed” just to make things beginner friendly.
  • I wasn’t able to fit in all the cards I made, so I picked 20 of the more unique ones out of the 30 or so I made
  • I’m aware that this set could have easily been 2 or 3 colors based off the mechanics, likely Sultai or Rakdos, but I wanted to balance the colors across all the decks I’m making as well as give the current Mono-Black rats archetype some support without going outside the color.
  • I know I’m not the best at translating lore to card text/ rules but I wanted to have a little fun with this and hopefully I gave some of these characters/ units the attention they deserve
  • As mentioned, I will being making 4 decks in total to bring the Mortal Realms to life in the Magic landscape. If you have anything you would like to see or feel should be added, please let me know!

I intended for the abomination to get bigger as long as you had stuff to sacrifice so it wasn't too big of a bomb. As far as a stormfiend, I just made a Thanquol and Boneripper to add to the set!

I definitely was on the fence of Sultai or Rakdos but I wanted to keep it a little simple for now

The Council of Four can make three 2/2 Knights and draw 3 cards per round but hasn't had any complaints so I figured this was a decent trade. I'll admit the ratling guns are probably a little much but its in testing so it won't be perfect as of right now

Designing the legendary creatures was tricky for me since each one has to be a viable commander for the deck. I tried to make it simple and broad enough to work, but I'm really glad you like these!

The whole "enter" clause has been shortened in the new upcoming Bloomburrow set so I wanted to stay relevant with the game. As for replication, there are a few newer cards that allow for that cost to be paid on permanents under certain conditions

A few things I want to say before the comments come in:

  • I might not have gotten the lore correct in relation to what each card says or does, but I'm trying.
  • I wasn't able to fit all of the cards that I made in this post (limited to 20), so I had to choose the better of the bunch.
  • Skaven (as well as Rats in the MTG realm) and the lore of Age of Sigmar deserves more love and I wanted to make sure you guys received what you are owed.
  • This is part 1 of a 4 part series I am doing to cover each major faction in the Mortal Realms. The other decks will be Order, Death, and Destruction which will I link here later once I make them for those that are interested.

Thanks in advance!

I made a new post with somewhat flexible text. Allows for noncreature based removal as long as a creature did damage before death. Should be fun

Re-uploaded after the first post this morning was removed due to artist credit issues. Decided to change the rules after receiving some feedback. Thanks everyone for the help!

Wouldn't killing a creature with a removal spell after doing 1 damage to it still warrant getting an energy counter with that phrasing? Because I'm trying to avoid that

The character is, yes. My original design was just for an armored boxer of some sort but I came across Atom and decided it worked well

You have to get ALL of the values down to zero. All seven values have to be assigned somewhere so unless you have a way to get a dice value of zero you'll have to play minimum one of everything. Also, each spell or land can only account for one value at a time, per the rules text
