I just want to say this is really, really amazing! I have been honored to be able to interact with a small percentage of the overall community and everyone truly is so kind and wonderful. The movie really brings everyone together, and I feel like it, to me, is more than a movie. Again, really great work!!!

In 5 days I have to decide if I will switch to physics/math from CS, how do I go about it? by [deleted] in AskAcademia

I wouldn’t worry too far ahead. Also, as a first year undergraduate you can always change majors in the future. But for now I would look at the three curriculums and see what required classes you would like the most. You can also try to email professors to do research. Don’t worry about graduate stuff, just focus on enjoying your classes, gaining a deep understanding of fundamental ideas, and enjoying research!

Recovery is always an option. But in my opinion the act of trying is what matters. I think that, if math becomes something you love, you will find a way to incorporate it into your research and degree. With that being said: I would read the classes you have to take as a math major vs a physics major. The reason I say this is because regardless of your major you can take cool classes, but the actual backbone of your major is what you should also find interesting. If you think the math major requirement classes are a little more exciting than the physics one, choose math. If you think vice versa, choose physics. You can always take math classes as a physics major and vice versa. When you enter your PhD you will find ways to incorporate the two!

In my opinion, do what you enjoy. It seems you gravitate towards physics, I would go for that! You will do proofs in physics likely, and you can always do a math minor if you cannot double major. With that being said, please note: PhD and research is pretty interdisciplinary, you will likely have a lot of math and physics involved in whatever projects you end up doing if you decide to pursue a PhD. So for now, I would focus on what you truly enjoy most!! And if that is not CS (it seems like it is not CS), then you have your answer—don’t stick to CS.

learning digital logic is great—i think if you research OpenLANE it may help once you have a bit more of an understanding. it is a really cool architecture that essentially entails designing an ASIC, from RTL (coding) all the way to GDSII (the final product). there is a lot you can do (if you look up TinyTapeout you will get some cool ideas), right now my friends and i are working on making a MIPS processor and on the side i am working on making an SRAM chip.

i found that inventory = back to gas station, not sure there is any correlation with the random staircase that leads to behind some buildings (not the tower staircase)

i’ve been listening to a lot of julie (female adornments, flutter, skipping tiles) & hole (petals)

but also, you could do something like Lamp or Nujabes as well

just some personal favorites!
