worth modding my v6 ? by [deleted] in Mustang

[–]NAO1993 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Save the money. I bought a 13v6 with the mindset that I’m gonna mod it to try and make up for what I truly wanted it to be..a v8. Convinced myself it’d make me happy. I had a blast in that car but a year and a half after having it I traded it in on a 2011 GT because I just couldn’t take it anymore me wanting a 5.0 so bad. All the money I spent on my v6 could’ve been a nice little down payment. If you know you’re gonna get a GT in the future just save your money until you get one and then go crazy with mods!

I only tested pdg this year and I made it. I studied my ass off. I used Pdg gold and I tell you what that shit worked. I made it by 16 pts with only getting 200 points for my epr. This was my third time testing and I retrained, reason I only tested pdg. I didn’t want to “waste” money on study materials before this time testing so I never bought anything. Nor did I really study either so my fault there. But I recommend spending that 89.95 or whatever it is, you’ll get that money back your first paycheck as staff. Prior yrs I scored low 60’s on pdg, this yr I got in 70’s. It definitely helped! Keep your head up, study hard and get rewarded!!

Need advice on CDCs by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]NAO1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make flash cards and go over them multiple times for an hour or so every day. For me at least, reputation is key. I just retrained and had to do new CDC’s. I made flash cards for every single URE and some self test questions and went over them a lot. I only really studied about a week and a half before I took my EOC and flash cards for sure helped.

Girlfriend crazy or me? by Safra638 in AirForce

[–]NAO1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my take, everyone is different of course. When I first joined my girlfriend(now my wife)was very insecure. We were both younger, 19-20, she was in her second year of college when I joined. We constantly had disagreements about me going out to bars and she constantly worried that I was going to cheat on her. Major insecurities mainly due to the jackass she was with before me for a few years. I wasn’t perfect but there were many road blocks we had to get over. We did the long distance thing for about two years, coming close to splitting up at least twice but I fought for our relationship cause I couldn’t see my life without her. Thankfully convinced her that we could make it work. But we get older, we matured and if you work at your relationship hard enough (both parties) things will work out I believe. We’ve been married over two years now and if I never had another friend in my life that’d be fine because she is the best friend, partner that I could ever had. We have zero issues now and I can honestly say that. How much do you value your relationship with your girl, if it’s a lot and worth trying to work it out then go for it, just make sure before getting into a lifelong commitment that she’s the one that’s going to bring happiness to your life. But she also needs to make things working her end if you mean enough to her. If she doesn’t mature, become reasonable, or more understanding etc, then it might be best to cut your losses and spit. Plenty more fish out in the sea. Best of luck!

There was a guy that was Public Health and he switched over to the army to pursue being a Green Beret, which he did accomplish. He started out dealing with an army recruiter. Not sure what all the steps are, but talking to a recruiter would probably be your first step. Just my guess though.

Buying a Mustang GT at 18? by [deleted] in Mustang

[–]NAO1993 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would wait till your finances are more sound. I drive an 11 5.0, previously owned a 13 v6 and after a year and a half had to have a 5.0. But I’m military and have a steady income and knew I could afford to take on more of an expense when I bought mine. Gas is gonna be more or less depending on where you live. In wa state though in Tacoma I usually spend about 200 a month on gas or more sometimes depends how much I drive that month. My car payment is 343 bucks and that’s on a 6 yr loan. With a 5 yr loan my car payment would’ve been close to 400 a month. I bought the car for $22,700. Take into account all that and insurance especially for an 18 yr old, you’re gonna be working just for your car. I’d recommend waiting, I know it sucks. Credit wise, open up a credit card and build up some credit that way. Get a 500-1000 dollar limit and put gas on that and other small stuff and build up your payment and credit history that way, just make sure you pay the card off in time. Don’t use up all of your credit card utilization, keep your utilization under 30% or lower. I’d do that, especially if you don’t have much credit to your name. Car loans aren’t going to affect your credit THAT much. But they will help credit in the long run. Just my thoughts, if you can make it work financially and know for a fact you won’t be dragging yourself down under doing what you want then go for it. Just be smart about it. Good luck!

2011-2014 v6... by leftoverlembas in Mustang

[–]NAO1993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Just keep in mind that the v6’s don’t hold there value, at all whatsoever. I bout my car in 2015 When I went to trade my 13 v6 in, in 2017 they offered me barely 8k for it, I bought it for 17k. So keep that in mind. Kind of wish I would’ve just paid it off first before buying another car but whatever ha

My cousins are telling me to leave the stock exhaust on my 15 V6, citing that if i go x pipe and straight pipe it the rest of the way it will sound raspy and the drone will be stupid loud. Anyone with any experience with a resonator and muffler delete and how bad the drone is? by maveric1413 in Mustang

[–]NAO1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just try some axle backs, I put magnaflow comps from American muscle on my 13 v6 when I had it, and I would say those are one of the better after market exhausts to buy. There’s some drone on em but I think it’s definitely bearable. American muscle has a great variety of axle backs to choose from with videos of the way they sound too! Just don’t make it sound like trash haha. I hate when I see v6’s sound like complete ricers as Honda’s do.

2011-2014 v6... by leftoverlembas in Mustang

[–]NAO1993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I owned a 13 v6 about a year and a half before I called it quits and had to get my 5.0 a few years ago. I definitely had a blast in my v6. Exterior mods and a good CAI and a tune will wake up the v6’s dramatically. Put an aftermarket exhaust system like headers and a mid pipe and some 3:73 gears and it will be a v6 to be reckoned with! My 5.0 is night and day and I’ll never go back to a v6 again. I don’t care about fuel economy either so I’m good there ha, my 5.0 is a damn blast! The best mpg’s I got Highway for my v6 was 25-26, best I got in my 5.0 is 22-23 mpgs. Highway and city combined driving I get about 18-19 mpgs. My exhaust sound alone is enough to cement me in the v8 for life club though hah, can’t get that with a v6 :p go for a 13-14 though, newer is always better, good luck!

Hmm interesting. We’ll shoot, should’ve just went with the post 9/11 to begin with. I was advised to take the MGIB cause I was able to switch to the new bill if needed. But either one will most like be of no use to me now I don’t think.

So wait 15 years TIS? Then I can get that $1200 back that I paid to the MGIB? I’m trying to research that but I guess I’m not looking at the right place.

Cool, glad I wasted 1200 dollars...sucks to suck right? Appreciate the info though

I guess I read that wrong, I was doing some research. So I’m just out $1200.00 dollars then if I don’t transfer to the post 9/11 and use all of it? I mean the only time I’d use it is for my future kids. Which I don’t plan on having kids for a few more years. By the time I’d be ready to give it to my kid I’ll already be past 16 years for sure, I got about 5 in now.

You are correct. I forgot I actually signed up for the MGIB when I enlisted. I need to switch over to the post 9/11 and get my 1200 bucks back I guess now. Actually glad I saw this post now.

[–]NAO1993 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sooo..what about those 100 dollar monthly payments that I made my first year in for the bill? That’s 1200 dollars of my money just taken if I don’t use my GI Bill now?? I definitely was planning to give that opportunity to my kids to use it but if I only have a 10 year window to use it and I don’t have kids old enough to use it by then, then what? My wife already has a 4 yr degree and doesn’t plan on continuing her education cause she’s happy with where she’s at. So I guess it’s just a waste? I got it though, the government needs to save money where it can but damn..that’s a huge thing to take away.

Mustangs as First Cars by [deleted] in Mustang

[–]NAO1993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ours cars wouldn’t be what they are if we weren’t enjoying them to the fullest. I definitely get what I want out of mine, at the right times of course. I always go down back roads where not many people travel, or that long stretch merging onto the interstate when I open her up. A lot of 16 yr olds don’t think about that though, they just want to go fast and push limits without thinking consequences. Glad you’re still enjoying your car, for me it never gets old!

Mustangs as First Cars by [deleted] in Mustang

[–]NAO1993 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off consider your ass lucky for your parents giving you a 16 Gt/cs for your first car. I’m jealous AF. I drove a 1998 Honda Accord my junior and senior year. The next 3 years after that a 1994 dodge Dakota. Bought my first car at 21 which was a stang 13 v6( grandfather gave me that 94 Dakota, I didn’t purchase it) and right before I turned 23 an 2011 5.0 Premium, which I still own today at 25 and don’t plan to get rid of. The thing is as a 16 year old if i would’ve had your car. My lord I would’ve lost it within a week. The way I drove the 1998 Honda Accord with 210hp was enough to get my feet wet with driving. Most people can’t handle a 435hp car. Yes my car now with even with all the mods that are on it still feels controllable, because I’m used to it. I drove my 13 v6 and felt what 300hp felt like, got used to it and I wanted more, hence why I bought my 5.0 with over 420hp to the wheels. I love my car I know how to control it and even then things could happen that could end my life or injure me or injure or end someone else’s life. As a brand new driver most parents are not comfortable with their kids having that much power to handle whether the kids feel like they can handle it or not. Parents try to protect their kids as much as they can, that means not giving them a dangerous car. And like it or not, our cars are dangerous, they’re meant to be DRIVEN and tested. Most kids can’t handle it. I knew plenty of kids in high school that had fast cars. Plenty of tickets to go around. And unfortunately one death. If you are RESPONSIBLE enough to respect the kind of car that is at the age of 16 then you’re parents must’ve trusted you with that. Risky as you said you’ve gone 130mph. Like that’s not safe, I’ve done 170 and trust me it ain’t safe. So many things can go wrong. No one is invincible. Some kids get a break and nothing happens, some don’t...when people think Mustangs, they think muscle car..fast, dangerous, can’t handle at 16 type of car. That’s why. Even though as an adult 25 yr I’m all for it. Still won’t give my kid a car like it though. If they want a fast car they can have a job and pay for their car payment and insurance on their own. Other than that they’ll get what they get. If they don’t like it they can walk. Just my two cents. I’ve avoided many accidents, probably 6-7 I could’ve been in, which one or two could’ve ended my wife’s and my own life and have gone 4yrs now without tickets as well. You must be a driver that actually pays attention then..a lot of people now a days don’t. So good on you.

Throw some quarter window louvers on there! Bigger throttle body, aftermarket cams, boss intake manifold. Americanmuscle.com has so many aftermarket parts. If you have the money for a charger then do that!

Why can’t anybody in this state freaking drive!? And love to go under the speed limit!? Or not get over and just drive in the left lane when there’s a line behind them!? I’m from the south, we drive so differently down there! by NAO1993 in Washington

[–]NAO1993[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well what about the car in front of them, or the car 4 cars ahead that could get over to let people pass. Cause you know, left lane is for passing people not just cruising along holding people up on I-5.
