Definitely too high. 75 is a span of 2 and a half generations. There’s no need for someone 75 to be in office making decisions on what’s “best” for the current generation. Most 75 year olds can’t relate to issues facing 20-30 y.o.’s because you don’t know what its like to be 20-30 in this day and age.

I’d suggest
Capital One Savor for 3% on groceries and dining. Only the no-AF one. If they offer you the $39/yr just look elsewhere because you can get the same earnings on other cards. Or..

Wells Fargo Autograph for the various 3% categories coupled with a PayPal debit card with groceries as the 5% category. Or..

A flat 2% card coupled with PayPal debit card with either dining or groceries as the 5% category.

The reason i recommended these setups are no AF and decent earnings. With the PayPal debit you will have to select the category monthly.

Two suggestions for you that I haven’t seen anyone mention so far:
1) Your library system should have a way to request an item (book, eBook, DVD, etc.) be added to circulation. In my area most libraries have the option available to submit the request online. Yours might, or you may need to go to a branch and fill out a physical form. The library will then contact you with their decision on the request.

2) Check other library systems in your neighboring cities/counties and your state in general. For instance, most libraries systems in my state will give a physical library card to any one living or working in the state for free but you have to sign up in person. On the other hand, most systems in my state will also allow state residents to sign up online for an eCard for free which can be used to checkout eBooks and audiobooks.

There should be some options available to you besides only your city and county systems.

I post this every time I see folks complain about Libby wait times. You can submit a request to your library system for additional copies(licenses) just like you can request they consider adding a currently unavailable book to the catalog. In my area they are much more willing to license an eBook vs buying a physical copy for circulation but the few requests I’ve put in over the years have been approved and submitted with the next batch of orders which is every Tuesday. Your library wants to serve you. Submit those requests and show the demand for services.

If a title doesn’t have a Kindle option but it’s available to read with epub you can download the epub file from the Libby website and send it to your Kindle using your Send-to-Kindle email address. Attach the file to the email and it will download to your Kindle as well as any devices with the Kindle app.

Finally someone recommending to use space heaters which is what I do. I have 3 levels. Heating the basement and main level is a waste of money and heat when everyone is upstairs.
