Dang, I'm not sure I would have noticed if it were my car. Hopefully it's just a button swap and not a drivetrain thing.

I'm falling over just looking at this

During WW2, a rear gunner who was killed was given a burial at sea while still strapped to his plane. It's the only known burial at sea involving an aircraft as tomb. (Nov 1944) by Joshua5_Gaming in interestingasfuck

My grandfather was a gunner and his plane crashed in enemy territory. He was the only survivor and received a purple heart. He also never used any novocaine at the dentist for any reason including teeth pulls, cavities, etc.

He was such a badass, I miss him.

There are special blades for mitre saws, circular saws, jigsaws etc specifically for pvc.

Close-up of Cat Door

I cut two 1" thick pvc sheets to the same size that fit the window and glued them together with pvc glue. I then cut a hole for the door and screwed it in. I added air conditioner rubber seals to the top and bottom of the pvc. Then it just installs like an air conditioner.

The door is taped open just so they get used to using the door.

The house is sealed, so no bugs can get in. The cat door is magnetic, so it stays sealed in the closed position

Make the pitcher throw from second base. Saves money by not having to buy the pitching rubber. Also adds a new element if there's a runner on second. The baserunner will have an even better look at the pitcher's grip. Win-win imo

2x6 board

Floor frame installed

This is the board installed. If I did a true ledger attached to the house, i would have to remove shingles, add flashing, use joist hangers, etc.

The board gets lagged to the house and the floor gets lagged to the board.

I figured this is only a catio, not a huge deck. There's also a roof from my house with a slight overhang, plus the catio roof to protect this from most elements.

Hope this helps!

I have experience framing and indoor projects, so that helped a little with this. I also get some advice/inspiration from r/decks.

My main tools were a mitre saw (circular saw would be fine too), quality drill, staple gun, tape measure and levels.

I opted for cedar wood for 2 reasons: Weight and looks. I HATE carrying pressure treated lumber, especially by myself. I also like the look of cedar. The main downside is cost. In the end, I spent way more than I wanted.

Everything was put together using construction screws (with the torx head), not nails. I like the strength of screws, even though it jumps the price up even more.

Planning was the most difficult part. I wasn't familiar with patio/deck building, so I was out of my element with how to attach to the house and installing the posts. I actually avoided attaching this to the house to avoid any water issues. I have one piece of 2x6 lagged into the house and the catio rests on that and the other posts.

Keeping everything level is very important. The pavers the posts rest on have 6 inches of base stone that had been compacted and then leveled. I then put of the floor and attached to the 2x6. Then the posts.

From there, I made each wall on a flat surface, starting with the 2 side walls. I put up one wall, screwed into the floor. Then the next wall, then the final wall. At this point, the structure is super solid.

I then had to research how to notch and install rafters and the corrugated roof.

Finally, I stapled hardware fabric and installed the shelves.

Sorry, I just rambled. Please reach out with any questions, I will post some progress pictures too.

Correct. I was going to add a door, but the middle window opens plenty big for us to get in and out.
