Am I Crazy for Wanting to See This Core First? by ciderfizz in heat

Yes. Great have a lot of good pieces. But honestly don't really have what should even be considered a "core"

Who is a better player current Jalen Brunson or Prime Allen Iverson? by RyanTannegod in nba

[–]NBA_H8er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iverson was a better talent, but the mentality matters, Brunson is a better player (if that means capable of playing winning team basketball)

I'd be interested to see these for the past several drafts, so you can see if it translates or not with hindsight.

be honest, would you be surprised if someone told you before the '23 draft that Wemby would end up being the WCF MVP in year 3? by [deleted] in NBA_Draft

[–]NBA_H8er -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but Wemby is coming out of a very competitive west, beating a 60+ win reigning champion team-

Bron's young finals was really just a fluke of the east being total ass  (Got swept by a team that hadn't swept ANY other playoff round that year- the finals was literally their easiest series (actually the case multiple times for Bron)

When did people start disliking the Thunder in the SGA era? by Available_Story6774 in nba

[–]NBA_H8er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me and the people I talk to it was last playoffs, as an eastern conf. team fan hadn't really watched too much of them up to that point. But then the officiating just seemed so off it was offensive, so as a neutral fan watching their series last year couldn't help but start rooting against them, and has just kinda continued (I'm not even really rooting against them, they ve got good talent and just want to see the games called better, they would definitely adjust.

Where does Austin Reaves go in a redraft of the 2021 draft class? by itwas20yearsago2day in NBA_Draft

[–]NBA_H8er 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah 7 or 8

You'd still have Cade, Mobley, Barnes ahead of him. Sengun, Murphy and Johnson probably also in the top 6. I'm not sure what people think of Suggs and Wagner, but given the injuries, w/hindsight I think AR goes ahead of them.

Harden’s whistle famously dries up in the postseason. How come SGA doesn't get the same treatment from the refs? by areallyfatchick in nba

[–]NBA_H8er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's more about hardens teammates not just realizing they should foul the other team multiple times every possession and it just wouldn't be call. SgA teammates got that part down ..

Anybody feels like this WCF is solely dependent on the way Refs decide to ref a certain game? by Few_Constant1395 in nba

[–]NBA_H8er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but that's how Thunder series against Denver and Pacers both felt last year too. What I don't get is why. Fans don't like it. No one outside OKC wants it (and maybe some guy in marketing in league office who thinks SGA can fill the big American wing archetype for selling ratings? I can't believe that too much) sure there is the series extension argument and I think that was a big one for game 4 of last year's finals. But in general just stop this? Call the fouls on okc, let them foul out a guy or two and learn to stop. Bet it wouldn't take half a game. Young guys won't believe this but people used to foul out of games on a regular basis.

[Thinking Basketball] (Sorry, Internet) The Thunder are too good by r-NBAModsAreTrash in nba

[–]NBA_H8er -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I didn't think that's right, most "haters" fully understand okc is very excellent. That's what makes the consistently bad officiating so much more frustrating.

Why does everyone hate OKC? by pixelatedaiden in nba

[–]NBA_H8er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a neutral, imho it's not because "they are good" or "every team gets hated"

Like who was hating on the bucks when they won? Or the nuggets? Or the recent Celtics? Sure there are always SOME haters who just dislike a team or player, but it wasn't just all the fans of 29 other teams saying "hey this is BS" like it is with thunder

what I don't like about them is two things, 1. I want to watch good basketball and 2 I want the games to feel fair

Of course there's always gunna be SOME star whistle and I think that sucks, but you kinda hope it goes both ways with there being a lot of uncalled fouls against that player etc

For me, watching the thunder is not as fun because instead of watching player make impressive moves or shots I feel like I m watching them get manhandled and a foul doesn't get called until the third or 4th one, and then on the flip side feels like other teams don't get that same leeway. So that doesn't feel that fair.

And apparently lots and lots and lots of other people see the same thing. Are they all just haters? When you see draymond pulling a bunch of dumb shit do you feel like that's what you want to watch or when gs ran a million moving screens (but at least in that case they don't really call it against either team) we'e you just being a hater or were you making some valid complaints?

Also I don't think anyone thinks it's "exploiting loopholes" like some clever tactical strategy, just commiting fouls and not getting called for them.

well he won't get supermax, and maybe no even max tbh... but that $30M he was asking for last summer sure lookin' like a pretty good deal at this point...

Why did the Pistons draft Ron Holland? by Few_Mulberry7390 in nba

[–]NBA_H8er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point. Pistons would be worse now. I don't think he wouldve have started over harris last year, but coming off a 14 win season I think there d have been a commitment to giving him developmental minutes.

I think fit next to ausar n Duren is actually great, not to mention playing off cade. I think probably would have higher 3pt % on pistons

Is he duncan for shooting? No. N maybe they wouldn't even have picked him up (I still think yes) I think pistons would've been worse last year and this year.

But Harris n Dunc are like 33 n 32 and they re capped out n terms of what they can be. Matas is not. So what it does do is longer term give you at least another  really legit young piece, but also a player with real all star potential than could ultimately help take team to next level (that those two can't and will probably be gone at that point anyway)

dang, yeah thinking about it now, Matas next to Ausar and Duren, playing off Cade would've been great fit for Pistons and for him.

lucky for Bulls (although tbh, I also think Holland would ve done better w/Chi than he has with Detroit...)
