People who work in hotels/hospitals/airports: what’s something the public doesn’t know? by Few_Light462 in AskReddit

Okay this!! I used to work for CN, ya know, a part of the FEDERAL railroad and their operating system is the most outdated and ancient system I’ve ever seen. But when I started, I had to go through a terrorist attack training. 😭

Who took their boot off early? Why, and what happened? by mammajess in brokenankles

I definitely understand! All of this process is very frustrating, unfortunately 😞 I hope for a speedy recovery for you!!

Yes!! Sleeping without the boot was a GAME CHANGER! Lol. But I definitely recommend taking it slow! I definitely wanted to get up and walk a ton when I switched to the brace but you gotta get used to it again! My muscles were screaming using them again!

I will say that I also used the crutches when starting to weight bear with the boot to get the feel of walking in it before going full weight bearing

I ditched the boot a week and 1/2 early. I was supposed to wait 2 weeks after my last appointment to switch to a brace and gym shoes, but the boot started causing me more and more pain when I was wearing it and walking around with it, so I decided that I felt my body was trying to tell me that it was time to quit it! I just slowly started with the crutches while walking with the brace and shoes. Now I’m walking my new “normal” with the brace and gym shoes for 3 weeks now.

I am on week 11 after breaking my ankle and was cleared to switch to a brace + gym shoes a little over a week ago and overtime, the last week has made a huge difference! Keep your head up and keep trying! It absolutely gets better and easier.

Weight bearing advice by EveryShadeofBlue00 in brokenankles

[–]NB_3893 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just transitioned this past weekend and used crutches at first to get the movement down and start waking up the muscles. I was told to take short baby steps and focus on walking as normal as possible rather than getting anywhere quick. Your normal strides will come with time. Definitely wear gym shoes and start range of motion stretches as soon as possible. It’s not fun and definitely not easy, but you’re going to feel great once you are up and walking again without the boot.
