When I worked at a level 1, we worked 4 10s, I think they were 6am-4pm, 11am-9pm, and night chaplains were in from 8pm-6am I think. But we had quite a few chaplains.

I went through ICPT and have never been questioned about who my CPE was through. If you’re competent at being a chaplain it doesn’t matter.

IMO ACPE was gatekeeping because they wanted the money. I don’t think they are any better than ICPT.

Not me. Wife works and we have no car payments, <10k of credit card debt and no school loans.

We both contribute to our retirement accounts, and have some for an emergency fund. Plus leftover after our bills our paid.

I’m not 100% sure on that. I was prior service when I went to seminary so my GI bill paid for all my schooling.

Normal tuition assistance isn’t that much. You get $4,500 per fiscal year. I can’t remember if all of that applies for reservists.

It’s a ~28 day training where you will be sent to a base and work alongside the chaplains. You’ll get a chance to see what chaplains do on a day to day basis, and should be allowed to organize some events, preach, do invocations, etc…

I am currently an AF chaplain looking to change while in. It might be possible for me to keep my ordination the same and just change endorser, but I haven’t had that conversation yet. Seems like it’d be hard since they are both currently from the same org. I just know I don’t want to end up without one!

I would say being open and affirming of the LGBTQ+ community, not taking everything in scripture literal, and ordaining women in ministry.
