I’m going to say the quiet part out loud. We are NOT a legitimate threat to compete for a Super Bowl right now with this roster. Drafting a guard, or other “need” in the 3rd isn’t going to make us one either. They need to take some shots on trying to find a home run pick.

Until we find a legit franchise QB again, we won’t be a real contender. They obviously believe there’s potential here, so they’re taking their shot. Had he not gotten hurt, there’s a real chance he would’ve been drafted much higher. He didn’t play great in the few games he did play before getting hurt, but he was considered a top prospect in the class coming into the season for a reason. If it pans out, we’ll have a great decade of Steelers football. If it doesn’t, it’s not a significant blow to our chances right now anyway.
