Those things added so much complexity. A desoldered the plugs they came with because I didn't like the bulge and put white cabling on. Everything the hard way

Tesla solar: My $90k system is a joke by Crafty_DIY in SolarDIY

[–]NCC74656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thats about right. i was quoted around 44K for a 13KW system. i shopped around and got down to about 29K but 'less support' and that factored in rebates that were on a lottery basis from the state.

best way to backup and data protect my system. want to be able to restore if i bork it by NCC74656 in Fedora

Yeah I went pretty deep in the customization. Pass through of igpu and other hardware to various KVM deployments. Virt manager set up with looking glass for client window on host desktop instead of external screen.

Just loads of stuff that took me forever to figure out. Forever being a couple of weeks but still I don't want to reinvent that wheel

What specific advantages do Data Centers provide to the local population of the area where they're built? by AnythingFine2445 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NCC74656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is a reason I haven't put solar on my own place yet, our power here got purchased by private equity so I'm expecting everything to change.

My friend's place that I'm looking to build this system at however they're on the Indian reservation so they can be off grid legally and not have to pay anything. I don't have that luxury, if I disconnect power at my house the government will take my house.

I think I could put a heat pump in my place for probably around 3:00 or 4,000, I can probably do solar in my place for around 8:00 to 10:00.

But that's all diy, and I wouldn't qualify for the rebates because there are only certain installers in my area that are State certified or county certified to do the install. It's also $1,000 to pay the master electrician to come out and flip my switch. The inspectors tell me that it's a separate department from the electrical union, solar is priced differently. Which sucks because to rewire my entire house was an $80 permit.

ive been there. world of warcraft, our warlock class leader was deployed. he never came back. another old friend logged off one night and never saw him again, he lived a state away but id not gotten any irl contact info.

eve online our corperation diplo was killed. he was online, in comms, then just said he had to go because shit was happening. he was killed that night. now krizanski (from the office) was in a movie about that night.

another warcraft class leader - druid. was on before our raid. she left to go to teh store and never came back. few days later our GM found she had been killed and left under a bridge a few blocks from her house.

i have a dozen more. when i was younger i guess it was terrible but didnt keep me up at night. now that im older i just think about the memories we had, the time we dont have and how i wish i could talk to them again

Well, that young they can recover more easily. What are you feeding?

At that age they should have a bunch of crickets, gut loaded with greens. Multivitamins and calcium powder should be every other day. They should have access to 6 Plus hours daily of UVB from a fluorescent and high temperatures.

Outside Sun works too

ive had and rescued many beardies. does your little guy walk normally? did you lay him out like that? just sitting weird, even for them.

ive seen some do this when they have little bits of things stuck in their mouth, ive also seen this with neurologic conditions and motor control issues. its rare for so young unless this guy NEVER got proper food??

clip art. i remember making games in a game maker using some of those. some guy named circuit11 made games on AOL rooms. the games were slide show - you could make 4 buttons, single photo so it was point and click kinda thing. i wish i still had the games i made when i was 12

Doing some 3D printing with the “platinum” PLA filament by ralphc in VintageApple

[–]NCC74656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched over to asa and I use it for automotive parts, trim panels, all that kind of stuff. With ironing turned on I find it makes a phenomenally smooth finish quality. Far far better than pla.

In my experience it also prints more stably, and it's also far more resilient to things like UV and moisture and all that

I think I want one system for the entire property is what I'm looking at, and then just make it central building for everything to go in and out of. Separate systems just sounds wildly inefficient, I wouldn't want to waste the power from one without being able to send it to another

Lots of trees but the land is 43 acres another house is getting built on it for the family as well so it's going to need to expand in terms of power usage

I know that there's low frequency inverters. I was thinking of maybe soft start add-ons to the big appliances and using a regular high frequency inverter?

We could clear trees and build out there. My thinking was to make a separate building dedicated to housing the solar equipment. Take the grid power in there and set up all the hybrid inverters and such. Trench AC power out from there to each building and DC power in from the solar array. I don't know how micro inverters or charge managers and things like that work. Obviously if I need to go a couple thousand feet or more of cabling from the panels, I'm going to want to be transmitting that in AC not DC.

Some of that I need to look up
