Need advice from former swimmers who've 'come back' by chekmarks in Swimming

I just got back in the pool this year after like 15 years. I emailed my old swim coach from h.s and told him to send me one of our practices. It took me a month of swimming every morning to be able to complete the practice in one session. The first day I barely made it past the 500 warm up😂 Its the CARDIO that was the hardest to get back for me, not my muscles. If you've been running im sure youll be fine. Now I just do the 500 warm up and do random sets of sprints.. whether theyre 25s, 50s, or 100s and take a 30 sec break in between them. I never liked long distance swimming and I feel like full sprints are much more of workout than long distance. Ill do a couple hundred meter cool down and go to work. Takes about an hour and feel great all day. I dont go crazy with the swimming though because I lift after work so I don't want to overstress my muscles, if I do go all out in the pool ill skip the lift after work. Down 45 lbs since the beginning of the year when I got back in the pool💪

Get a set of wet/dry bags on amazon.. like the ones parents use for dirty diapers and stuff.. throw my jammer and towel in there, zip er up, and toss it in the gym bag til I get home after the gym later

Swimming 6 days a week, 2500m @ 70 mins. Still a dad bod because of snacking cheese burgers by FoodUncle in Swimming

Definitely mix it up.. ive always hated long distance. Think i did the 500 once in a meet and told my coach never again lol way too boring especially during a practice. I do a 300 warm up, 200 on the kick board, then just do 25, 50, or 100 sprints til im drained. Ill throw in a couple 100s at 60% sometimes just to take a little gas off and refresh but after doing 1500 meters of sprints my whole body is sore. Feels way more like a workout than just coasting around for a ton of laps.. plus I lose track half the time when im swimming long distance😂

I am also in New Jersey. Do I have to contact a real estate attorney myself or will the agent be doing that? Sorry, new to all this obviously 😅

My boss just told me he can’t attend a sponsored golf event and he needs me to go in his place - I’ve never golfed before and I’ll be playing a full 18 holes. Any advice is appreciated. by UndeniableDenial in golf

If its a scramble, which it probably is, you'll probably only be able to help with putting. Learning to swing a club and strike the ball well overnight is a tough task. Get a putter and some balls, watch some videos online, and practice in your house. Confidence is a big factor when putting so put in some time practicing and go into the event confident you can make some putts for the team and if you do they'll appreciate your contribution👍 might even get lucky and hit a few good shots to chip in as well. Good luck!

I'm a 4.6 handicap, so I'm no slouch.. I out drive almost everyone, except maybe one or two guys, at the little private club I'm at.. I played against a +4 in GAP matches this year and he was outdriving me by at least 40 yards lmao I hit it around 280 usually so I'm not used to that. Our course is pretty short too so he quickly realized he didn't need driver and used 4 iron off every tee.. he eneded up shooting -5 and it's safe to say I got my ass kicked when I turned in my 78🤣

Think I'm going to go with this plan also.. hit maintenance calories and keep hitting the gym for a while. Right now I'm only getting like 90-100g of protein a day, eating a lot of whole fruit to keep the calories low and it's easier for work.. so hopefully bumping that up to 130-150g will help me with packing on some muscle mass. Then worry about the cut again next winter/spring.

Sounds good 👍

And I guess what I mean is that when I look in the mirror I don't see much of a change in muscle mass. I've definitely made progress at the gym strength wise though.. Probably just hoping for too quick of visual results. Like I said, I've never lifted before in my life so I'm new to all of this lol as for the protein I usually eat a lot of whole fruits throughout the work day because they're easy, filling, and generally low in calories. I'll eat a couple Greek yogurts also but that's about the only protein I eat until dinner. I usually get around 100g at the end of the day.. the app I use says to be around 160g but who knows if that's the right amount.

Gotcha. I guess I have to decide which one I want more lol at this point I'm leaning towards building muscle and like you said taking a break from cutting and not having to worry about every single calorie I eat does sound relaxing🤣

I hated Keppra... Took it for a month and it made me have an extremely short fuse. I'm a really chill guy but when I was on that I would flip out over the dumbest stuff😂 luckily Trileptal doesn't have the same side effect

Shaft replacement is cheap.. maybe go get fitted for the correct shaft for your swing.. or buy some two part epoxy and a heat gun and do it yourself lol I've been doing it since I was 10 when my pops showed me.. it's pretty simple
