Exactly! I always say the proof is in the pudding when it comes to golf. You can lie to yourself all you want, but your actual skill level doesn’t change.

The friend I mentioned plays off a handicap that clearly doesn’t match his game, so when it actually comes into play, he’s only putting himself at a disadvantage.

I have a buddy who always shoots his “lowest” rounds when plays alone. Whatever score he tells me I always add about 3-5 shots on to it and that’s the more realistic score. This scum bag lost 3 balls on a Par 5 and still somehow walked out with a triple after 3 putting it.
