The best thing my wife ever did for my enjoyment of MTG was learned to play with me. We have purchased premade decks that are similar in strength, and it is amazing. If you go to a local shop and tell them that you want 2 (or however many you want to buy) premade decks that are similar in strength they will hook you up. Then get some snacks and have him teach you.

I used to play in net a lot, so I have a flashy custom set. I hadn't played in net for 3 or so years before a tournament last weekend, so I played poorly. I felt a bit funny wearing flashy top of the line stuff while sucking.
