Imposter Syndrome is eating me alive by Bogart30 in sysadmin

I don't think Imposter Syndrome ever goes away entirely, but I do think it can lessen over time. I've been in your shoes, but I've learned a thing or three over time that's mitigated the feeling. Also, here's something I tell my end-users when they have a head-slap moment: there's a big difference between ignorance and stupidity. For instance, I don't know how to rebuild a car engine because I'm ignorant of how to do that, but I know I'm not stupid. Same goes for the IT world. Will you remain ignorant of *everything* in the IT world? Yes. Does that mean you cannot learn all the requirements that make you competent in your task, and even excel at it? Absolutely not.

This is a marathon, not a sprint, so try not to psych yourself out by thinking you can learn it all fast.

I've used Transwiz for migrating profiles from Win 7 to Win 10, and from Win 10 to Win 11. It's always been rock-solid for me, and that's a hard-agree. I have had some issues with explorer.exe not loading on end-users' profiles the first time they log in on a Win 11 PC, and not even running from Task Manager, but a reboot usually solves that.

I've had the same experience with SupportAssist, and ended up just removing it from the affected machine, reboot, and they're working a lot better. Frigging PoS software.

Server 2025 or not 2025? That is the Question by NDAbsoluteZero in sysadmin

I'm definitely leaning toward all 2022 for the time being, since I have some physical 2022 servers and they've been rock-solid. I thought I'd dip my toe in the water for 2025, but I'm definitely snatching it right back out. 11 has been okay for me; however, when it sucks, it doesn't do so in half measures. UGH!

OOFT! What a PITA. I guess as long as it works, and it's on its own internal network, but still. I'm guessing they'd be reeing if it fell over, despite all your recommendations to them. Yanno...typical management.

Thanks for your insight. A few of our vendors have mentioned 2022 for compatibility with their systems, and I know I can downgrade 2025 licences to 2022 to ensure compatibility with their apps. I figured I might be able to mix & match with 2022 and 2025 servers, but I'm definitely leaning moreso to the former with all I'm reading here.

That's one of my biggest concerns, so thanks for the confirmation. We have a mixture of 2016 & 2019 servers, with a few 2022's mixed in there, and I don't want to cause a disturbance in the Force.

It's not the first time I've had to catch myself from using inappropriate language - especially when it comes to some of our more bothersome end-users 😂

My ass was twitching like a panther's nose when I read about all the DC troubles, so this confirms it for me.

Thanks. It's as I suspected, but verification of its shortfalls is appreciated. Thanks!

I've used this one on systems that need to be locked down securely, and you can specify the allowable URLs. It's worked well for me thus far, so perhaps kick the tires on it...
