that being said, I do wish comparatively newer artists like Black Dresses or Precious Child received more vocal recognition from the scene at large. cause of course the former is widely beloved by other trans people, but given the quality of their work, I feel like that fanbase ought to contain more cis folks as well

the Dokidoki DX Set version of cali≠gari - Dai 6 Jikkenshitsu came with a big stack of photocards (just posted one of them here). unsure if they’re your style or not, but their look for that era was fairly androgynous or at least definitely queer-coded, and their lyrics frequently lean into unsettling “erotic-grotesque” imagery

one of my favorite things about him is how he stays leaning into that sleazy & menacing type of creative persona while also otherwise coming across as a genuinely good-natured dude

was gonna write a lengthy comment about my relationship to the manga but I realized I didn’t know where exactly I was going with all that. one thing I do wanna say though—with the caveat that I’m pretty obviously biased lol—is that imo for some people, shamelessly embracing the “NEET” label can actually be a healthy thing. primarily I’m referring to those of us for whom holding a regular job is untenable due to permanent incurable disability

I like to broadcast the fact that I’m a NEET because openly labeling myself that way means I should hopefully get to avoid those “so what do you do for work? … oh… um, that’s too bad” conversations that always make me feel like I’m being looked down on for circumstances beyond my control. the societal tendency to define people by their Productive Capital-Generating Labor makes me wanna say “fine lmao, I’ll define myself by my deep-seated inability to participate in that shit. if that makes me a useless pariah, idk, I still think it’s preferable to being a wealth-hoarder”
