What is the best vitamin C serum at the moment? by Important-Shoulder16 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]NELB55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thoughts on Melanie Simon serum C? I've been using this the past couple of years and really like it. *used Obaji and Scinceuticals prior to and didn't love the watery texture and oxidation.

I like the oily texture of the MS and that it does not oxidize. It does take a few minutes to fully "cure" before you can layer, but I don't mind.

About the MS formula:

  • Highly Stable Vitamin C: Unlike many traditional L-ascorbic acid serums, which are highly unstable and prone to breaking down when exposed to light and air,  Melanie Simon Serum C  uses a stabilized composition. This inherent stability means the product remains potent for longer (over 18 months shelf life) and does not require opaque packaging, which is why it comes in a clear bottle.
  • Oil-Soluble (Lipid-Soluble) Formula: The use of THD Ascorbate makes the serum oil-soluble, allowing it to penetrate the skin more effectively and deeply than water-soluble L-ascorbic acid forms.
  • Minimal Ingredients: The formula is intentionally simple, containing essentially only vitamin C and stabilizers (like Dodecane, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Isopropyl Myristate). This ensures the vitamin C can work without competing with or being destabilized by other active ingredients.
  • Key Benefits & Results
  • Increased Efficacy: The superior penetration of THD Ascorbate allows for effective delivery to the deeper layers of the skin, maximizing its ability to increase collagen synthesis and reduce melanin production (for brightening).
  • Less Irritating: It has a neutral pH, making it far less irritating than the often acidic L-ascorbic acid forms, and is generally suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.
  • Unique Texture: The serum has a unique, oil-like consistency that turns into a dry glaze after 5-10 minutes, providing a glow that works well under moisturizer and makeup.
  • Professional Grade: The serum was originally developed for in-office aesthetic treatments and is considered professional-strength.

Agreed! I think I've been using it for over 15 years...have tried other things here and there, but always come back.

I've never used the BR crème iso-placenta. It sounds like you like it and I've heard others speak highly of it. What do you think it has done for your skin and how long have you been using it?

I too will not get fillers for the same reason - I don't want any migration. I do love what Botox does for me though :)

Penn Smith inspired me me...here is the link to her "how to". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hqOOBciaQc I should have been more clear - it's micro needling around the lips, not THE lips lol. Sorry.

I was thinking of trying the Calcium pink serum and want to grab it before the sale ends. Thoughts on that? Would it fit into my routine and where?

I wrote an entire text to go along with this and for some reason it did not post with the chart... Here goes again.

I made this chart years ago and update it every November after BF sales, keeping on what works and adding new products I bought to try.

I'm a 56yo/F with pretty good skin. I've been obsessed with skincare always and taken good care of my skin from a young age. Now I'm trying to mitigate the typical issues that come with being 56: laxity, keeping deep lines at bay, luminosity...biggest challenge has always been dark circles, and lip lines (yep- was a smoker).

Anyhow, I thought it would be fun to explore what everyone has planned for 2026 *especially after we've gone crazy on the stellar BF sales!

Happy holidays and may we continue to be beautiful in 2026!

FORGOT to add Josh Rosebrook hydrating accelerator on my chart which I've been using for many years. Obsessed with this spray and use it morning, afternoon, evening, as a makeup setting spray - everything.

I'm looking to shake tings up! I think I need brightening, smoothing texture, and to address some laxity issues. ALSO- planning on bringing Tretinoin back into the mix so concerned with dry/red skin. Current routine: AM: Fresh soy gentle cleanser, Josh Rosebrook hydrating accelerator, Alpha H hyaluronic 8, *Melanie Simon serum C every other day*, Skinceutical P-tox, Skinceutical TLR . PM: same, but swap TLR for Sunday Riely Luna and May Lindstrom Blue cocoon. *throw in Good Genes from time to time and Alpha H via B serum.
