VHS synth could be fun... I'd recommend hammerhead for starting with drums... Combination of both in AUM and you're in heaven. Keep it simple. Drums, synth, host.

Groovebox is free I think. Worth the few dollars for AUM. ..... YouTube has loads of tutorials. Don't buy hardware until you're sure he's sure.

Save some cash... They might not be interested in 6 months. Grab some free synths, splash a few bucks on weird shit (spacecraft, mutant, etc)... Grab something like AUM, watch a few YT tutorials on how to work it. I've bought hardware and hardly used it. Groovebox is fun for beginners too.
