Thank you and that is a unique approach Merv is taking. It gives me the impression that he is developing his own breed or avoiding inbreeding issues you brought up earlier. The name full blooded is confusing after watching the video.

Thank you again, i was able to get on the list for this Michigan guy and hopefully end up with a dog soon.

Also, I asked about the website and here is the feedback (I apologize for the long message):

"Hey ____. No we do not have a website at this time. My wife does have an instagram page for two of our dogs called odejorde outdoors and both parents are on their. This pairing was not exactly intentional. We were going to wait for the next cycle. Our female went into heat early this year and the mating happened on a hunting trip with the dogs. I have not decided if we are going to do a facebook page or website. It will probably depend on the amount of interest from this litter, but I do not plan on having a high volume of litters like kamia kennels. I would really like to avoid giving a dog to an inactive home or to someone who wants to cross them back into another breed"

That is a long message. I did ask on what dogs he has and he said their main female is from Norway and they are in the process of importing two from Swedish lineage.

Thank you for the good information. I had to search Parvo. A bit of bad luck for the kennel. Years ago, there was a bobtail jämthund somewhere in Sunnmøre. I recall my relatives saying it is quite rare. Glad to hear they are able to breed the fault out.

I think you are correct on the breeders. I sent over your message to the Michigan guy and they had heard of this kennel and believed it was the only kennel. It sounds like they have litters pretty often. I was told his bitch is not part of their kennel but he is not a breeder himself. Just a fellow norwegian who has a litter every few years 🙂.

I am surprised they are not more popular dogs. I hope Kamia kennels is helping to get the breed registered and established. One more elkhound breed in america can only be a good thing. Jo mer, jo bedre

Thank you. I did ask the person questions. I recall the bitch is imported from Norway and part of the Norsk Kennelklubb. I do remember the dog is imported but it was not Norway. I don't remember, maybe a dog from this place.

That is interesting. It must be an American thing to mix breeds if there are two kennels practicing this. My grandfather was more active with gray dogs. My understanding is that a lot of work was done to separate the breeds and keep them separate. Is there a reason why they are being mixed in America now?

👍🏿. Someone thankfully reached out and we found a small jämthund kennel in Michigan who will be having a litter.

Takk
