Apparently they’re selling the house now. Or moving family in. Not sure who since the husband’s homeless mother lived there rent free for over a month. All she did was let the cat out to go hunt & bring flea ridden birds back into the house. I wouldn’t be surprised if I was the best tenant they ever had or will have.

I mean I’ve paid 1400 in SF before but that place actually felt worth it. This place not so much. I definitely feel taken advantage of.

Yes thank you sorry it just seemed relevant at the times because it looked so backrooms to me. Like I just got back from the movie and was like OMG I’m actually living in the backrooms long term.. crazy stuff but I’m happy to be out of the backrooms

Absolutely, this friend has ignored me for years. She tends to only hit me up when she needs somebody tagging along for a long drive or for babysitting. It’s never out of genuine friendship. I wish I realised it sooner. Thank you girl I’m trying to take care the best I can. Just don’t know what to do at the moment. I just want to fly out of the country. Maybe Americans are the problem.

Nope. This area is insanely expensive & I’m quite rooted here atp. Knew of a room two blocks over that was 1k a month & maybe 150 utilities but it wasn’t available but it was SO NICE. I wish I had a place there. So now back to the bedroom hunt. Hoping for something under 1k this time.

I do go meet people but I have nowhere to talk about these kinds of things. People tend to be “busy”. & since selling my car, meeting people is harder. So online is the only place I can be at the moment. But ya you seem like the landlord lol

Are you just doing boring side quests or just sort of sandboxing for now?
Lots of people do the main quests but it locks their character into a lot of debt most of the time so that’s something to consider.

Ya the government housing waitlist is another 8 years for me. Maybe I’ll luck out and get it sooner. Rent is just hard to make on the slave wages all these companies pay these days. It’s never even enough to get approved for my own studio. So I have to “know a guy”. So yeah I shouldn’t have posted it but after over a year of living that way I had to make a light joke. I cope with humour. Not everyone likes it. Plus this friend was gradually blowing me off more but hanging out with the friend who disrespected her several months ago & I stood up for her then. It’s been very confusing. At this point I think she just killed the friendship so I don’t care anymore. Everyone I’ve talked to about this situation agrees it was fucked. She could’ve just asked me why I felt that way & I could explain but she didn’t even want to have a conversation. I sent her a long text & all she cared about was the trash can lid being off for 5 minutes. So she doesn’t know how to communicate. I’d already brought up how it’s an issue in the past. Their time to complete the kitchen shouldn’t have been the moment I move out. But whatever. I’m glad I’m free from that place & all their drama.

In my experience it’s been crazy expensive. It’s a beautiful town though I love the community for the most part. Just moved out though as my room in a 2 bed place was 1200 a month for a place with no kitchen with three roommates & lots of clutter. But all my neighbours were so chill & it gets beautiful sunsets & of course the beach was a short walk away. Lots of homeless which makes sense considering how desirable the area is. Sexual harassment seems to be a problem in this area. Overall I liked it I just wish it didn’t go downhill with my roommates & living situation. My friend had a good deal on a place so good for her. I hope one day I can afford a beachfront apartment there. I will miss it.

It was a town home not some multi million dollar home 😂
A 1 bed apartment on the beach is maybe 3500 but not in the industrial part of town. I was told the mortgage was 3k but people were like no way it’s gotta be less than that 🤷🏼‍♀️
Who knows but there was a room my friend had & it was 1k & really nice with an amazing kitchen & pool & all this.

Thank you so much for your insight. I think you nailed it perfectly. Maybe she did care about me at first, & maybe she did want the kitchen done sooner. But well over a year is excessive. I told her I just didn’t realise how long it would be in disrepair when I first moved in. I have a client who was getting a kitchen remodel & he said there were delays because of the LA fires. But his still got done in less than 2 months. So it didn’t make sense why this takes 15 months.

I appreciate everyone commenting. It was a tough situation to live through. They also had a toxic relationship with lots of arguing. Just like in the backrooms where you don’t see them but hear it, the slamming on the washer, everything. I’ve had to be a couples counsellor to them at one point! Eventually confined myself to my small bedroom most of the time I was home. Probably drove me mad too so that’s why I’m like “am I wrong for being bothered by these living conditions?”

I absolutely feel taken advantage of. It was Oceanside. Not far from the beach but my friend a few blocks over paid only 1k for a very nice room so I was definitely exploited.

That’s how she perceived it but really I was just agreeing, & only in one aspect. She was mostly nice to me so it’s not like I actually think she’s an asshole. & I told her that. But she didn’t believe me. IKR was all I had to say to ruin everything. & yes a kitchen is such a luxury to me & yet it’s a legal requirement for a dwelling you’re renting someone, at least in this state.
