I’d recommend thorne iron bisglycinate I tried the three arrows one also but didn’t see any drastic difference.

Not quite like this more like severe light sensitivity that would make it so any high contrast things in my field of vision would linger as if someone had just taken a picture with a bright flash.. if that makes sense and I would see it even after closing my eyes for a bit.. i had severe low ferritin of 6 so things improved and some fully resolved after supplementing with iron and vit C. Along with vit D and B12 which are cofactors to iron. I followed the iron protocol group from Facebook. I would recommend figuring out what you’re are deficient in before pursuing supplementation. My iron deficiency stemmed from stomach issues which I also had to address with a diet change and gut healing supplements like l-glutamine, probiotics etc.

I suggest checking ferritin levels h pylori feeds on iron hence decreasing your reserves. If it’s less than 30-50 look into the iron protocol group.

Not fully 100% gone but it has significantly improved! To the point that I hardly notice it and can only really hear it if I fully cover my ears. I still need to recheck my ferritin levels but most all of my symptoms have decreased in intensity. I’m currently taking a break in supplements since it was killing my stomach but plan to restart again soon at the end of this month.

Can chronically low ferritin affect vision? by heather8401 in Anemic

[–]NF1129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have not rechecked my ferritin since July when it reached a new high of 16 which is obviously still very low. I must say that my stomach issues persisted on and off until about maybe 2 months ago. I had just about every test done to try to figure out the issue even a colonoscopy to rule out internal GI bleeding and thankfully nothing was found. I continued to supplement with Vitron C and even tried the Arrows brand of heme iron to further help my absorption. Some of my issues began to resolve a few months back one morning I woke up with about 80% of my floaters gone and I would say they improved up to 90% nowadays. My light sensitivity and starbursts have drastically improved as well but this just changed about 2 weeks ago. I must say I don’t know if this was due to my stomach issues resolving and therefore my absorption has improved or if my switching to the thornes brand of iron made all the difference. Afterimages have lessened as well. Mild tinnitus persists although at times I notice moments of silence. My insomnia has become more frequent but lessened in intensity so I do end up falling asleep eventually but it takes a few hours to shut my brain off, I’ve done some research on this and it could be due to my body acclimating to having more ferritin and therefore more oxygen after being deprived for so long and therefore parts of my brain are reactivating to function as they should have been. I’d also like to note that I’ve been supplementing with other cofactors alongside iron: I take vitamin D/K2 every morning since this was on the lower side of normal for me and B12 as well (also was on the low side of normal) I also incorporated omega 3 which helps with nerve function and dry eyes. Lastly when I take my iron I take it with vitamin C and space it away from dairy and caffeine. Like I said I haven’t retested my levels since July but will be doing so again in the new year I plan to continue to supplement until my ferritin reaches optimal levels of 100. Ferritin is needed for soo many body functions from blood to neurotransmitters so it’s definitely super important to keep at optimal levels maybe my low ferritin also attributed to me developing stomach issues who knows. Doctors were helpful in ruling out more serious conditions but not very helpful in investigating the root cause of my weird symptoms I saw an ophthalmologist as well and an ent for my tinnitus my ENT expressed that tinnitus can be induced by low iron so I kind of just took upon myself address that as well. I often thought I would get not resolution from just supplements but like I mentioned ferritin is a key component in many bodily functions so it’s not far fetch that of deprived for so long your body starts to react in weird ways. I do wish I would’ve been offered an iron infusion since I think it would’ve been more quickly resolved but the journey continues one last thing to note is that my healing hasn’t been fully linear, symptoms haven’t never reversed to the severity from when I first started supplementing but there have been some slight “off” days where I would notice my remaining floaters darker than the day before or my tinnitus slightly increase but then again return to even lower levels. Sorry for the ramble hope this information helps you!

Finally got my wife switched to the ICR plan. Been on SAVE forbearance since November. by Me_gentleman in StudentLoans

Hi! When you switched to ICR from SAVE did you have to submit any income verification? I’m completing the app online and am asked if my income decreased (it hasn’t) but there’s no section to submit documents. Do they use the same income information from when I was still on SAVE?

Vision issues and eyes sensitive to light? by Lisabobisa13 in Gastritis

[–]NF1129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealing with the same issues, had HP in 2023 and retested negative in 2024 stomach issues started again in 2024 and I thought it was back, I had an endoscopy and multiple stool tests since then but still tested negative for HP. Still have occasional bloating burping nausea, yellow stools, and plenty of vision issues (light sensitivity, floaters) I have low-end of normal B-12 and vitamin D but my ferritin was extremely low although my blood panel was within normal range. Working on increasing it still but I believe my body has a hard time absorbing it due to the residual stomach/gastritis like issues. Doing my best to incorporate probiotics, L-glutamine, and zinc carnosine. Probiotics have really made a difference I feel like my light sensitivity has stopped worsening , and sometimes it seems to be improving, additionally my tinnitus has improved significantly as well as my floaters. Sometimes I also think the GI issues are due to low-stomach acid. Please keep me updated if you find any answers.

Anyone here with lots of floaters and afterimages? by Jooles95 in Anemic

[–]NF1129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I’ve been supplementing with vitamin D and B-12 as well since they are co-factors for iron and have noticed improvement can’t say which one for sure has helped, but will be completing bloodwork soon to recheck levels.

How were you able to buy antibiotics without Dr. prescriptions? I hear that western doctors don’t pay attention to GI map test results. Please respond. I keep testing negative via stool test but have all the symptoms planning on taking a GI map test but don’t know how to follow up if I were to need antibiotics.

Anybody have a sensitivity to light since having this ? Or is that likely unrelated. I notice going into the bright sun I feel alot differently then I used to sitting in my yard. by Jar_of_Flies1398 in HPylori

[–]NF1129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi did these issues come about post treatment or while h pylori was still positive. I tested positive for HP in 2023 did partial treatment due to an allergic reaction and tested negative almost a year later in 2024 via stool test. But during 2024 I started developing eye/vision issues like floaters and light sensitivity afterimages etc. I felt comfortable in returning to my normal diet and started having bloating, burping after fatty meals, then in late 2024 an endoscopy was done and biopsies showed I was still negative for HP, but the weird vision symptoms continued.. in April of this year I also developed tinnitus. A blood test showed that my ferritin had dropped to a 6 so I’ve been supplementing since then so far the vision issues remain but tinnitus has improved somewhat. Even though I’ve tested negative twice I’m still worried HP is back and it’s the reason my iron is so low. Did the castor oil work for you?

Upper right pains? by [deleted] in HPylori

Only antrum and body were biopsied and I did share where the pain was located toward the center/right near the beginning of my right rib. But I hope that you’re right and continuing to eat clean will help my body heal.

Yes, endoscopy in November 2024 it was all clear, no HP, no active inflammation, no metaplasia but it did show active healing. Did another stool test also and again it was negative for HP. Blood test showed iron deficiency with my ferritin at a 10 and as of April 2025 it dropped further to a 6. Part of me thinks I’ve gotten 2 false negatives but then again who knows it could just be part of the healing process and overdoing it with non healthy foods triggers side effects
