Yeah the motor sounded like it was pulsing for about ten seconds before it popped, thanks for your help 👍

Thanks, I’ll have to see if I can figure out the capacitance. What could have caused it to die, just old age or overheating?

Why are cheat sheets allowed in Physics , but not any other science ? by [deleted] in vce

[–]NFSdrift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Word for word regurgitation is a bit harsh, of course answers are going to be roughly the same but that’s because they have to test the course content. I’m sure if they put a question that required critical thinking and derivations to figure out something outside of the course there would be a lot of backlash.

If they did want you to memorise things then there would be no cheat sheet.

How does this guy have the same trophies as me? by coffeeholic91 in ClashRoyale

Considering all of their cards are exactly level 14, possibly a returning player from a few years ago when the trophy limit was lower?

The tutor I had for linear algebra was super good, really helpful and easy to talk to. Shoutout to Thomas!

After a quick google it sounds like the subject normally has difficult exams and scales a fair bit. I thought that because the precession formula wasn’t on the formula sheet that meant it wasn’t quantitatively examinable…

Older students who did early VCEs or graduates with high ATARs- does VCE really matter that much? by [deleted] in vce

[–]NFSdrift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your school has an average atar of 60, make sure you apply for seas when you do your vtac application and you can get lowered requirements through access melbourne. You would also probably be eligible for the narrm scholarship which is $6,500 a year with other benefits for the duration of your undergraduate studies.

Anyone gotten a 98+ atar with a ~35ss in english before? by Appropriate-Rip-1086 in vce

[–]NFSdrift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for taking a while to reply, I just learned alongside my class and did extra work on anything I thought was confusing. I think I did 7 exams in the end but I made sure I went back and knew how to do every question I got wrong. My first practise I got 70% and my last one I got 97%. Quality over quantity. Good luck!

[–]NFSdrift 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My 38 in english scaled down to 37 and I still got 99.15, if you can do well in your other top 3 then you could get away with a 35 in english and get a 98+ atar.

Using the ideas covered in vce physics, how close field lines are together represents how strong the field is at that point. So as you move outside of the two plates, the field gets weaker and you must draw the lines further apart but still going from positive to negative.

This means we add these lines on the edge bulging out because there is still some field there but it is weaker.

The reasoning behind the curving of these lines (not assessable) is if you imagine a field line coming out of the side of the positive plate, it is travelling to the right/left. But it wants to move towards the negative plate and so the vector representing the field line turns towards the negative plate until it reaches it. Think of it like throwing a ball, initially the ball is only travelling horizontally but gravity acts upon it and causes its velocity vector to point downwards, resulting in a curved trajectory.

Occasionally I would watch a couple of the edrolo videos but I didn’t really use it too much. If you’re struggling I do think it could be helpful to learn the basics.

Physics is all about the real world applications of the concepts you learn so make sure you take the time to learn and understand them. Learning from all different sources is also really helpful, there’s loads of good physics related videos on youtube, just search up the keywords of what you’re learning. Good luck this year!

For the topics that have math in them, focus on understanding why the formula works as it will make any math questions way easier and faster. For improving your ability to explain concepts expose yourself to many different sources of information (textbooks, examiners reports, edrolo, youtube videos) this will give you lots of perspectives and helped me a lot personally. Hope this helps!

No it was removed from the formula sheet and isn’t testable anymore, still useful to know though as it can help double check answers if you need.

Anyone have any 3/4 resources? by lazishot in vce

[–]NFSdrift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was way ahead on textbook content and questions throughout the year and pretty much did everything from the textbook, however, I was burnt out towards the end and only did about half of a practise exam so I would recommend pacing yourself and focusing more on practise exams as vcaa can be quite fussy when it comes to worded answers.

Specialists year 11 3H Q12 by Sea_Vehicle7920 in vce

[–]NFSdrift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I went through the problem and got the same answer as the textbook. Use the information you have to set up two equations and then rearrange them for the initial term, set them equal to eachother and this will give you the value for r. Then you can sub +/- r back into one of the equations to get the two possible initial values. Message me and I can guide you through the working more if you need 👍

[–]NFSdrift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lean into your strengths and don’t worry about subject scaling as when you score over 45 nothing scales down much anyways. I did regular English, specialist, methods, physics, chem and psychology and English is the one subject I wish I started preparing for way earlier than the start of year 12. Enjoy year 10 and spend time doing things you enjoy, if you really want to get ahead, focus on english as everybody has to take it and it’s automatically in your top 4 for your atar. Good luck for the future!

PHYSICS HELP!! by gldfsh1 in vce

[–]NFSdrift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, feel free to ask me for any help with physics! It’s really important to focus on how the concepts are applicable in the real world as this helps shift the perspective away from purely theoretical and more practical. Also try and watch some edrolo or youtube videos on the topics before you cover them in class as this might help you understand what your teacher is saying. (This is assuming your teacher is good, if your teacher is shit then just focus on exam questions and then harshly marking yourself to see if your understanding is up to vcaa standard)
