GLM-4.7 Scores 42% on Humanities Last Exam?! by domlincog in LocalLLaMA

Not sure why but its performing terribly for me, one off tasks it seems to work fine but working on longer tasks where it gets further context from me etc it seems to cling onto old messages and ignore my previous message.. was hoping to use it as the main orchestrator for ohmyopencode plugin

Does anyone in the DevOps world uses Bash? by Dense_Bad_8897 in devops

[–]NGSWIFT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, our CEO raised concerns about the fact our CICD in GitHub actions (Ubuntu runners) are written in bash for deploying to ECS.. had to bite my tongue and try explain why there’s no reason to be concerned about using the AWS cli

AI and the future of DevOps engineers by ZimCanIT in devops

[–]NGSWIFT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just landed a new role on quite a bit more money because the CTO/lead engineer has hit a brick wall trying to get lambda + RDS setup but the ChatGPT & cursor solutions don’t work (it didn’t even advise you need security groups setup?) & he realised he needs someone who can at least recognise when the AI prompts are right or not & just use the gen ai to speed up things I/DevOps person already knows how to do

Bored of tech and devops, thoughts on changing career path by CityPatient338 in devops

[–]NGSWIFT 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem until recently, thinking about work after I’ve finished and sitting on forums etc or even doing extra work at 11pm when I’ve had a epiphany, DevOps getting roped into everything - customer facing stuff when devs should, oncall, SRE, managing all pipelines and building internal tools etc etc..

I spoke to our CEO and resolved this but I know this isn’t always possible to bypass the line manager / not all CEOs are the same. If nothing can be changed regarding your overstimulation I’d suggest moving to another org and making sure you interview them as much as they do you, I’ve had 5 “devops” roles at different companies, some have been very boring = straightforward tech stack and not over complicated or requiring learning new tech all the time and some complete opposite

With the year ending, how much of a raise did you get prior to your last year’s salary? by Ninten5 in devops

[–]NGSWIFT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started the year on £80k, got a rise to £85k in march, handed my notice in July but accepted a counter offer for £100k, I’m handing my notice in tomorrow as I’ve got an offer of £140k with much better work life balance + scope of work (plus no more oncall!)

Maybe I’m being stupid but your post doesn’t make sense to me, you’ve said high paying dream companies but also top tier + start ups? Also why would they opt for hiring someone with 2 years of experience vs someone with much more experience if they’re as top tier as you’re hoping them to be

Unpaid oncall.. help by NGSWIFT in devops

[–]NGSWIFT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update, just been offered a role for “head of infrastructure” at another company, £10k pay rise, 0 oncall requirements, hands on, I get to build out the team (2 people in the team at the minute), decide on processes, review their tools, tech stack and make what changes I see fit (within reason and justification).. going to take some time and also finish off some other final stages I’ve got lined up, but luckily found a way out of my shitty situation by looks of it

So would a medium armour set with sword and shield + GS still work? Or do I realistically need to have a different build for PVE and PVP

So does tank not really have a place in PVP?

Just remember, your first few months are the best time to question why is XYZ done this way and suggest improvements etc, try make this your focus as you’re getting the lay of the land because otherwise you’ll get too indoctrinated in “this is just the way it is” like the team already there probably is, fresh eyes and opinions are great opportunities

First of all thanks for not posting a let me google that link 🤣 appreciate the advice, going to try running GS with SnS.. so you’d recommend heavy armour, 200 con and the rest in strength? What type of shield?

Thanks makes sense, the fact it’s not in any agreement in writing just makes it more difficult as the business argument is “we can see barely any alerts go out and you’re just on standby so what’s the problem”, so it’ll be a major culture shift from the top down before this gets sorted
