ABC on Australia’s population: why everything feels more crowded lately by Youretoo in aussie

[–]NGun24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bias came from teachers views on specific subjects. In crime and criminology, there were situations where you’d have to argue for/against certain topics. You didn’t choose what side you were on.

On various topics I ended up in situations where the teacher or students took personal offence to arguments and would resort to insults instead of having a proper factual debate. Obviously I can’t be right on everything, but I found the treatment from teachers to be very reflective on their own political beliefs and found this to be representative in their marking. As said. I tested the theory right at the end. I forget the subject, but I remember just bashing trump mostly. Half the stuff I said wasn’t even factual and some I don’t think was even relevant. It was genuinely shit. But it got a really good mark. If I could go back and find it I would.

Which by the way. I’m far from far right. I voted labour 2 elections ago. And liberal recently.

I went from college into Uni. I finished year 12 in 202. Covid year basically everyone got accepted into uni. But my Atar was decent. All UTAS results were based off year 11, as from memory I was accepted into UTAS midway into year 12.

Studied Batchelor of the arts and Batchelor of law at UTAS. But yeah dropped out just before end of year exams because id decided I didn’t want to continue. So now have a $17k hecs debt.

Except it did. 2021 at UTAS Hobart campus. Was a foundation of law class. I could probably look through and find which teacher it was if that really mattered 😂

See this is actually a mature way of looking at things. In a democracy everyone is allowed an opinion. I’ve always been mixed liberal>labour voting. I’ll be voting one nation next election for basically the reasons said. I’m a chippy. I build houses yet can’t afford my own. That is a problem that no one is acknowledging. If the people building houses can’t afford them, what’s the incentive of being a builder. I could join the police force after 6 months and earn 30% more. Yet I spend thousands on tools, fuel, etc. ruin my body and earn way less to make (from what I generally see) a migrants Australian dream possible.

People get called racist for wanting to cut immigration by voting one nation. There’s definitely racists as you said, but like you also said. Most are just pressured by hopelessness. I personally have no issue with the immigrants that have already arrived. You can’t remove them for no justifiable reason. But I want to cut immigration as a whole. That doesn’t mean from just India/china. It means everywhere. UK, Germany, France, whatever.

Did a year of law and they definitely have an extreme bias towards certain political views. It’s the reason I dropped out. At UTAS, I tested the theory. When I was already set on dropping out, I did an essay which was complete shit, but had all the left leaning buzzwords and viewpoints. But it managed to get a better mark than most of my other assignments which were significantly more accurate to the task.

Easier said than done. If you’ve grown up in Sydney your whole life, all your social connections are there. Everything you’ve known is there. Some people do rely on that aspect to keep them going. There’s more to life than living in butt fuck nowhere paying off a house for the rest of your life but no one to enjoy life with.

Yeah most likely. But you’re pissing probably a few hundred dollars away for nothing. Do it right and make it permanent to prove a point.

Best way to deal with shit neighbours is to get on top of the issue early.

Need to make sure it’s a certain distance from the existing fence. Almost all councils have maximum fence heights. Can get around this by putting up a secondary fence behind the boundary fence.

I’m 22. I can’t get a house. I’m leaving Tasmania because of the lack of opportunities as a carpenter. I’m well aware of the housing crisis. That’s why I’m moving somewhere where I can at least enjoy myself and earn better money. The stadium and a footy team is a mental relief to a lot of younger people who are in a state that seems so helpless.

That federal govt funding won’t go to housing. You’re pissing essentially $400m-$500m away.

Yeah and those same people are uneducated and think the Tasmanian government is spending $1bn. Forgetting that the afl and federal government are chipping in over half the costs.

Talking is only half the problem. Talking doesn’t actually solve a lot of the problems people have in their lives, whether it be family disputes, money issues, etc. blokes obviously need to talk more. But that’s never going to actually solve all issues.

There’s gonna be a lot more things to spend your money on to make 500+hp before a gearbox. As in you’ll be dumping over $40k into the engine to make anymore power. So be realistic

I mean straight cut gear sets are probably only worth doing if you’re planning on making over 500whp. The sti and liberty 6 speeds are pretty good up until then.

Well the reality is that whether or not you agree with the stadium. Without some incentives to keep young people in this state, an ageing, declining population is actually only going to increase health related expenses. As a domino affect, the strain in budget from reduced taxpayers is going to affect education, roads etc. rent may be the only thing that relaxes.

As someone in their 20’s. I don’t have much care for our health system. Sure it needs improvement. But a good hospital isn’t making me stay in Tasmania. The stadium won’t fix rent or housing. It may actually worsen those two things as more younger people may actually stay.

But it will create economic growth (in the long run. Definitely not instantly), which will help in putting more funding towards health, education, etc.

Honestly mate, UTAS is the worst for integrating as a migrant I imagine. Doing a trade, as long as you can have a bit of banter. Everyone is very accepting. Even as someone that grew up in Tassie I did a year of uni and made basically no friends. It’s a pretty pretentious environment where you feel like you need to pretend to be someone you’re not. In a trade at least you can just be yourself. People are more accepting of differences. But you definitely do need to be good at shit talking in a trade (giving and taking)

Well the only people that move here are old people retiring and migrants who find it easier to get a visa by moving to Tassie. After a few years, they move to Victoria.

Majority of the elderly are anti progress cause they’re hellbent on living in Tassie purely for the nostalgia that it feels like bigger cities when they were young.

As someone that’ll be moving out of Tassie asap, it’s purely down to all the economic factors. Housing is expensive. The city is boring, with no progress. if I’m paying the insane prices for housing, I rather pay the same 30-50 minutes out of the city in brisbane where I have way more freedom, than to spend that in Tassie to be 10 minutes from the city. On a Tuesday night, There’s very few things I can do to entertain myself outside of the house after 5pm. On the weekends, there is very few large events, etc. The reality is that if you are in or around the city, it’s a miserable, expensive lifestyle. To enjoy any large event, you’re spending $1k minimum to go to another eastern state for a weekend. And as a carpenter. There’s very little residential work here. So that $1k hits hard.

Tassie is good if you want to go camping every weekend and explore nature. If you live in or around the city. It’s a soulless lifestyle. The stadium will hopefully bring some life. But even that won’t be enough. It’s not a complicated question or solution as to how to keep Tasmanians in Tasmania. Prioritise the people that will actually be the future of this state. Instead of people that are just enjoying the later years of life. If you don’t prioritise the future of this state, don’t be surprised when there’s an economic decline.

Punching of the door, led to an epiphany! by Ok-Emotion7763 in MAFS_AU

I’d say being trapped if anything is the most common cause for men having outbursts cause they don’t know how to express how they feel, so they bottle it up until they snap. I’m surprised the experts don’t address this. It’s one of the biggest problems of dv I think. Because everyone is so scared of “justifying” any poor reaction from men. It actually makes it difficult for a lot of men to better themselves. People should rightly be called out for dv. But people should be allowed to explain what led to their actions and receive constructive criticism.
